Negoro lacquering techniques were developed in the Edo Period at Negoro Temple in Wakayama Pref. putting on layers of black lacquer then covering with red lacquer and burnishing until the black rubbed through. This gown has an exceptionally beautiful red. It is satin but feels almost like velvet. The condition is new, probably never been used. The bottom padding was still covered with a white cloth when this Uchikake was purchased (Enlargement 5). The measurements are 53" wide and 73" long.

Silver wired flowers decorate this 3.75" signed Ando Jubei white cloisonne kogo. The interior is silvered, the rims copper colored.

Condition: Good, there are two hairlines beneath the bottom rim on opposite sides, one of which is illustrated in the fifth photograph.

A beautiful early 20th C. Chinese silver lock for child in small size, excellent condition. W:3.5cm H:3.5cm weight:17.6g.

Unique Chinese yixing teapot with rondels of marbled clay surrounding the teapot and on the cover. The spout and the handle are modelled in a bamboo design with a pig finial on the lid. There is a four character impressed mark on the base, as well as a different four character impressed mark on the underside of the lid.
