Two(2) pieces Chinese carved Jade Hardstone Plaques, 7 1/8" long, 1 1/8" high in the center, 3/4" high in the ends, 1/8" thick, there are some small rough spots on the edges. These pieces are made for some art object but never used them.

Made of black walnut with smooth natural finish, with special decorative elements such as lighter "ash" hardwood "keys", and "butterflies" on the inner leg to hold the natural fissures of the wood. Skillfully made with mortis and tenon joinery.

Japanese woodblock print of the Yasaka pagoda in Kyoto by Toshijiro Inagaki (1902-1963) depicting, almost exclusively in shades of blue, the pagoda and surrounding houses with water and hills in the distance. The blue is relieved by a few touches of red and yellow. The artist’s seal is in the lower left corner. This design is from the 1950’s but it is not numbered so may be from a later edition...

These two well carved and polished netsuke are early or mid - 20th century products. The tall one is a bare footed older man holding a long staff. It is 3 ¾” high, 1 ¼” wide and three quarters of an inch thick. The artist’s signature, “Hajime,” is carved on the bottom. Very clever rendition of the animal, much more creative and challenging as a number of intersecting planes versus natural familiar rounded lines. Very clever use of ichii (yew wood), its texture nicely imitating fur of the animal. Wonderful face, in excellent condition, pyrographic (burned) stamp of the maker on the bottom.
