A nice pair of larger carvings in emerald of a cat head and an Owl Fetish, Native American, probably Zuni, Navaho tribe and 20th. century (2).

Japanese Porcelain Jar Top, cover for Vase or Jar. Cobalt Blue underglaze design of floral and Bamboo with large high blue knob. 5" high, 4 1/2 diameter-outer maximum, 2 1/2" diameter-inner rim(jar diameter must be larger than 2 1/2"), the condition is good.

This little Hazara purse from Afghanistan was designed to hold kohl or some other small item. Embroidered in fine brick stitch in various colors of silk with the edges fringed with white glass beads, the purse measures 12 x 12 cm with the flap closed. It is in excellent condition, dating to the late 20th century.

DESCRIPTION: A large, vibrant Churro wool blanket from the weaving center of Chimayo in Northern New Mexico. This finely woven blanket is of the "Rio Grande" style with alternating bands of white and navy stripes running across a bright red ground. These bands are each separated by a line of three stars with twelve points. This cradleboard was made by Cecilia Cuthair of the Mountain Ute Indians in the 70's probably as a child's toy. There is no papoose or doll inside...but it is stuffed with cloth covered newspaper to keep its shape. The front is soft cream colored deer or elk skin (brain tanned) with beaded trim. The rear is covered with animal skin.

The cradle board is 20 inches long and 8 inches at the widest point. Condition is pristine.

Measuring 32.5 x 208 cm on black cotton, this woman's scarf from Hazara district in Pakistan is embroidered in satin stitch in floss silk thread. The curvilinear motifs are outlined with stitches of golden floss thread. The motifs are arranged into geometric compositions indicative of Central Asian influence. Condition is excellent and its estimated age is late 20th century.

A pair of Syrian pier mirrors made of Wengi wood. Inlaid crown and frame with brass, mother-of-pearl, Ebony, bone, and Mahogany. The crown each features a bouquet of flowers each with its own individualized pot displaying Carnations and Poppies. Embroidered in vivid turquoise silk floss with a top stitch of golden silk floss, this woman's shawl ("phulkari") from Swat Valley measures 97 cm x 198 cm and is in excellent condition. The designs are stylized rosettes with densely embroidered borders and a medallion motif in the center. Black is the dominant color for the background of Swati embroideries, which share many motifs in common with the embroidery from Hazara district...

A hand-emboidered purse from Pakistan, measuring 19 cm x 21 cm. The embroidery technique is a combination of ladder stitch and satin stitch in silk on a black cotton ground. The purse is framed on all three sides by white glass bead tassels. Estimated age: late 20th century. Condition is excellent.

Netsuke of standing Jurojin (one of the 7 Gods of happiness, usually associated with longevity) holding a scroll and a fan in his hands, with a reclining spotted deer (symbol of longevity) by his feet. Excellent carving - see the detailing of his face, incised fingernails, coat and spots of the deer. Great quality staining, beautiful patina. Japanese glass ojime in a form of tombodama bead with cherry red body and 2 clusters of white flowers and beautiful ribbed leaves. Tombodama can be translated as “dragonfly ball” and the name is thought to come about because when the molten glass is applied to the core bead it resembles a dragonfly’s eye. Superbly made piece - see finely textured petals and yellow centers of the flowers and fine structures of the leaves, in perfect condition. Height 0.65 inches.
