Beautifully engraved Japanese silver (.950 standard) cigarette case, early to mid 20th century, maker unknown, stamped with sterling and .950 standard, originally for cigarettes, now useful as card case. Measures 4 5/8" wide, 3 3/8" deep including latch and 3/8" high. Very fine quality silver, not unlike the wonderful master metal workers of the Meiji era, with lush designs of bamboo plants on a background of woven design...

This mid 20th century Japanese cloisonné vase is 7 ¼” high and 3” on the widest part. It depicts a finch resting on a branch of a peony tree. It is in excellent condition.

This is a very colorful Japanese Plique-a-Jour cloisonne vase. The colors used are a little different than most and contrast beautifully.(See images) Condition is very good. But when held up to bright light a line can be seen. It does not show in normal lighting. The vase is even a little different size. It stands 3 5/8 inches tall.

Japanese Ginbari Cloisonne Vase. Showa period, circa 1930-1950. The body of the vase is red with a pink chrysanthemum amongst white peonies with a green orchid. The red color, known as akasuke, is difficult to produce. Only the most skilled artisans can create the rich ruby red color and the transparent element where the motif on the vase shows through the glaze. Excellent condition, no scratches or dents. Japanese Ginbari Cloisonne Vase from the Showa Period, circa 1930-1950s. Red body with plum blossoms on a branch. The red color used on the vase is known as, akasuke and is thought to be the most difficult color to produce and only the most skilled artisans can successfully produce its ruby red color. To create its color, gold is mixed with a glass like substance and is applied to the object and fired at a low temperature. It measures 5" tall, 1.25" opening, 2" base...

Indian Monkey Mask from Himachal Pradesh in the Himalayas. 11 inches, 28 cm.

Very beautiful dark wood phurbu richly carved, the top shows 3 beautiful faces of protective ancestors of exceptional sculptural quality, each face measures 5 to 6 cm high. The top shows a miniature animal head (1.5 cm high), probably that of the mythical horse Hayagriva. The central part is a beautiful dorgi very finely carved. The triangular point shows a trunk wrapped in the mouth of Makara, each hand of which holds the head of a snake which rise from the point of the Phurbu; H 28.5 cm

Clearly this a very early ghurra showing greatly achieved carving art combined with thick crusted patina and significant signs of wear. The sculpture motifs represent on both side of the ghurra a scene of churning, supported by an interlacing which could represent snakes which it is however difficult to formally identify as the deposit is important and hides the details. The front and back sides of the ghurra are symmetrical H 31 cm, , width 9.5 cm , Thickness 3 cm

This mask expresses the harshness of the uncomfortable life in isolated districts. Wood is extremely hard probably from teak tree showing an amber to reddish color. The eyes, however, have been the subject of special work, the toothless mouth is opened to show a the tip of the tongue. This mask comes of the district of Humla H24 cm x 17 cm
