Thin Bronze Han Dynasty mirror , silvery bronze front great encrustation on the back in vivid green. The mirror has a clean crack and is in 2 tight fitting pieces. The central knob has a 2 mark inscription. Just over 3" diameter.

DESCRIPTION: A Chinese celadon jade pendant, both sides well carved in the form of an archaic mask and strung on a black nylon cord with a round celadon jade bead. Such amulets have a long history in China and would have been worn as a mystical protector against all unseen evil and bad luck. Lovely little Inaba white cloisonne box with a silver finish. The lid features flowers in a rocky garden setting and inside the box is engraved with flowers. Unusual Japanese painted pewter scroll weight in a form of a seated boy wearing a shishi costume used in shishimai dance, one of his legs outstretched. I am not knowledgeable about Japanese prints, but I would guess these to be of 20th century age. They appear to be in some places unevenly discolored, and browned by age (though not as much as the photos might indicate), but perhaps the paper was brownish to begin with. At the edges there are some losses and stains...

From a local estate comes a pair of very, very detailed Tibetan thangka paintings, one measuring 24" by 19 3/4" in its gold frame and the other 21 1/2" by 16 1/4". I am not a specialist in art of the Indian subcontinent and the Himalayas or Tibetan Plateau region, but I understand these to be highly symbolic religious works of that geographic origin. The former owner was said to have collected these on one of her trips to India. Obviously antique thangka's can be centuries old, but these work...
