A truly extraordinary print of the streets of Tokyo by Japanese Shin-Hanga artist Tsuchiya Koitsu circa August of 1939. Two women, both wearing beautiful blue kimonos, walk in the rain holding parasols. The streets are colored a purple/mauve as the rainwater reflects the light of lanterns from inside of a nearby shop, trees rise above buildings, and despite the depicted weather conditions, this is a very colorful scene. A lidded bowl of flattened shape. Shiny glaze over flower fantasy motif in typical Gouda Art Noveau style, c 1920's. Diameter "6 ¾/ 17 cm, height "3 ½/ 9 cm. Painted marks 741 and Gouda, gate-mark, Holland and painter's mark "P", the figures also incised. Condition: chip to rim of lid as shown on photo, otherwise fine.

A 1920's Wakasa lacquer clam trinket box. Both sides match and the two pieces fit together perfectly. Dating from the 1920's, it measures 4.75" across, 2.25" high, 3.75" front to back. Wakasa craftsman developed the process of layering lacquer coats of different colors during the Edo period.
Fenton Blue Marble 9" Bowl Rose pattern is in mint condition. Made in the early 1970's. It is 9" wide and about 3.5" deep.

This lovely white Hagi chawan rests firmly on a wari kodai or “split foot.” The crackled milky glaze varies in consistency across the curves and contours of the bowl with some areas tending towards a faint brown, adding an interesting dimension to the landscape.
