Early vintage rosewood & sterling silver dish or ashtray designed & signed c. 1930's by American & Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling (1900-67). The piece measures 3 1/4" across and 1 1/2" high. The hand carved octangular wood holder is inset with a hand hammered 980 sterling silver liner. Signed twice - WS TAXCO 980 on the silver, also WS TAXCO branded into the underside of the wood.
