It was said by dealers there this was a piece used most likely in the Satsuma castle privy . Condition is near perfect other than age staining and firing cracks at the bottom .Size W 9" H 7"
This pair of porcelain sea lions was produced in Germany by Rosenthal in the 1950s. They measure about 5 inches long, 4 inches wide and 3 1/2 inches tall. They are signed by the artist K. Himmelstoss, a fine modeler who worked at Rosenthal. These adorable little guys look like they are kissing. They are well modeled and hand painted. Artisans at Rosenthal created animal figures with character and personality as you can see.
Condition: Excellent first quality.
