Japanese Ambassador Ningyô. These were used as international gifts of cultural exchange. This doll has a poignant face with a compelling expression. She is a very young little girl wearing a rich dark blue kimono with pale flowers and a red obi. It is really just a wonderful doll that will surely enhance any serious doll collection. 29.25 inches, (74.5cm) tall. circa 1930's. From a widely renowned and published collection that has been exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum and Japan Society.

Chinese porcelain dish of the eggshell type. Decoration of wise men, in a garden, accompanied by their disciples. Some characters contemplate a scroll of paint, others are seated in front of what seems to be antiques. Some carry symbolic attributes such as Lingzhi mushrooms or knowledge plaquets. The drawings are finely executed, the porcelain is fine without defects.It is a creation of the best quality for this period. Excellent condition which is rare for such fine porcelain...

Antique Japanese globular bronze vase. Very simple with 3 raised koi fish swimming together and cresting the surface of the vase as if it were water. The raised details of their eyes are highlighted with gold inlay. Signed Shihou and dated July 18, 1926.

A lovely bowl covered with abstract flower designs by Kawai Kanjiro enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Hanawan. A bunch of grapes in slight color under shadowy cool leaves decorate the milky white and sand toned surface of this very unusual plate by Kitaoji Rosanjin enclosed in a wooden box annotated by Living National Treasure Arakawa Toyozo dated 1968. It is 19 cm (7-1/2 inches) diameter and in excellent condition.
Kitaoji Rosanjin (1883-1959) They say adversity is the mother of invention, and Rosanjin can be said to epitomize that expression...

A superb example of modern glass design by Anzolo Fuga for AVEM. A very similar vessel is documented in Rosa Barovier Menstasi's book, ANZOLO FUGA, in the"Multicolor Rods and Murrine" section, page 61. This vessel has the same murrine and colored rod as pictured in the book, with a more slender neck that exudes elegance. This exceptional modern vessel is is 17.75" tall and is excellent condition.

Set of six (6) Chinese chairs made from pearwood, with beautiful simplicity. All four legs and the underside of the seat are connected with horizontal wooden panels, carved with attractive sloping. This model is a faithful representation of the American privateer ship built in New York at the beginning of the 19th century. The model is of exceptional quality. It may be that it was built from a kit from the 70s but the multitude of excellent details leads me to believe that it is a unique work created from scratch by a virtuoso model maker. Although we know of many models of the "Prince of Neuchatel", none equals this one...
