Lobed Lidded Jar with the Eight Immortals
ca. 1800-1840
Jiaqing / Daoguang Period, Qing dynasty
Porcelain with overglaze famille rose enamels
h: 25.7 cm, d (at widest point): 21 cm
Very good condition: chips to jar rim, one deep chip partially filled. No hairlines, cracks, or restorations.
From a Midwest, USA private collection

This interesting jar dates to the early 19th century, and features the eight immortals in molded relief. Its enamels are quite bright and fresh, harkening back to earlier famille rose wares of the Yongzheng & Qianlong periods. This jar’s underglaze porcelain body is meticuously decorated with incised patterns and indented details. It’s also rare to find jars like this with its original lid intact.
