This porcelain chocolate cup and saucer was produced in Vienna, Austria in 1804. Impressed numbers on the bottom of the saucer indicate this year. It has an underglaze cobalt blue bee hive marking on both pieces. The saucer has a diameter of 5 1/2 inches and is 1 3/4 inches high. The cup is 4 1/4 inches high, including the lid. The set is considered to be a “trembleuse” with the attached gallery holding the cup on the saucer. The borders on each piece have a molded basket weave pattern. The set is hand painted with hunting scenes and flowers in Meissen style. The lid features a flower finial. Gilded accents trim the rims, handles and reticulated gallery of the saucer. This is a rare example of European porcelain to be enjoyed and preserved. Condition: Excellent.

This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in Austria by the Franz Dorfl porcelain decorating shop around 1900. The saucer has a diameter of 4 inches and the cup is 2 1/2 inches high. The ground color is deep cobalt blue. It has an expertly hand painted scene of the classical Greek Goddess, Psyche, by a fountain. The set has ornate gilding accented with raised enamel. The rims and handle are richly gilded. This demitasse cup and saucer is a lovely work of art. Condition: Excellent

This porcelain chocolate cup and saucer was produced in Fischern, Bohemia by Carl Knoll in the 1880s. It has the blue under glaze bee hive marking. There is writing in German, “Gesnng u Spiel” or “Singing and Play”. The saucer has a diameter of 5 1/4 inches. The cup is 3 1/8 inches tall, without the handle with a diameter of 2 3/4 inches. The ground color and border on the cup are deep cobalt blue. The cup has a panoramic scene of young children enjoying various activities. They are playing musical instruments, playing cards and singing. They are painted in fine detail with bright colors on a gold background. The borders are trimmed with intricate gilding in the Royal Vienna tradition. The saucer is embellished with elaborate, raised gilding. There is a lion’s face on the handle. This is a delightful depiction of children in the early 19th century. Condition: But for a tiny bit of wear in the well of the saucer, this set is excellent.

This porcelain vase was produced in Austria in the 1890s by an unknown decorating studio. The vase is signed by the renowned artist “Wagner” in gold in the painting. It has a beehive marking and is titled “Unsre Lieblinge” or “Our Favorites”. The vase is 6 1/2 inches tall and has a diameter of 3 1/2 inches at its widest point. The vase has a unique shape. A flared mouth that tapers to a narrow neck and then flares out for the body of the vase, and once again tapering to a narrow point where the pedestal base is attached. The center panoramic panel has portraits of 3 adorable little girls. They are expertly hand painted surrounded by flowers and a suggestion of landscape and sky wrapping around the entire piece. A ring of turquoise jewels or raised enamel beads encircles the shoulder of the vase. Sprigs of raised gold flowers are scattered on the pure white porcelain. There are accents of beaded gold trim on the neck and foot. The rim is trimmed with rich gold and lacy beaded gilding. The smiling faces of these charming children is a breath of sunshine. This porcelain figure or bust was produced in France by Vion & Baury in the 1870s. This piece is signed with impressed letters EB, Paris and a signature S. Kinsburger. The bisque figure is 7 ½ inches high and 4 ½ inches wide. The bust depicts a charming young maiden with a love letter tucked into her clothing. She is dressed in a frilly cap with polka dots. Her embroidered bodice is intricately hand painted and a row of gilded buttons accent it. Puffed sleeves with polka dots match her cap. There is a corsage of roses on her shoulder. This porcelain plate was produced in France by William Guerin Limoges in 1900. It has a diameter of 10 3/4 inches. The foot ring on the back of the plate is trimmed with gold. This is often an indication that the particular item was exclusive in its production. The plate has an under glaze green mark and an over glaze gold mark indicating that the porcelain and the decoration are both from the factory. In addition, there is an artist’s signature on the front of the plate. It has a 1 3/4 inch cobalt blue border richly decorated with elaborate raised gilding. This porcelain charger was produced in Germany by the Helena Wolfsohn Dresden studio in the 1890s. It is 15” in diameter and 2” deep. It is molded in high relief with rococo decoration and framing the five reserves. The center of the piece has a hand painted of scene of people who have just landed on shore at dusk and setting up camp. There are ships' sails in the background. Four reserves in the border contain colorful hand painted flowers. There are gilded highlights and trim. This is an intricate and colorful piece for decoration. Condition: Small shallow scratch in paint but otherwise is excellent condition.

This porcelain platter was produced in Germany by the Helena Wolfsohn Dresden studio in the 1880s. It is unusual to find an under glaze mark indicating this to be an earlier piece. It measures 14 1/2” long, 11” wide and 1 1/4” deep. The border is deep, cobalt blue. The center has a scene of people boarding sailing vessels. The coloring suggests that it evening. It is hand painted with similarities to some pieces done at Meissen. There is elegant hand gilding and trim on the cobalt boarder. This is a piece meant to be displayed as a work of art. Condition: Slight wear to gilded trim on edge.

This porcelain vase was produced in England by Royal Worcester in 1900. The date markings indicate this year. It is noted that this vase has a “leadless glaze” with #2226. The vase is 5 3/4 inches tall. It is 3 1/2 inches in diameter at the widest point. The ground color is cobalt blue. It is hand decorated with raised white enamel. An intricate pattern of chrysanthemums and foliage fill the surface of the front of the vase. There is one blossom on the back. The French enamel has a lacy, ethereal effect, almost like snowflakes. It is interesting to feel the texture of the hand enameling. It took a lot of talent and patience to create this marvelous vase. The foot and rim is trimmed with gold. Condition: Excellent

This porcelain ewer was produced in England by Royal Worcerster in 1885. The date letter in the marking indicates this year. It is model number 1048. The artist who painted this vase was Charles Baldwyn who worked at Worcester from 1880 to 1904. The ewer measures 7 ¼ inches high and has a diameter of 6 ¾ inches. The porcelain has a creamy, ivory hue. It is hand painted with a realistic jay bird sitting on a branch. The painting is done with flat paint, raised enamels and gold leaf. On the back of the ewer, black birds fly freely. The marvelous feature of this piece is the gargoyle handle painted in two toned gold. It is in gleaming contrast to the soft creamy texture of the matte ground. How interesting it is to see the realism of the jay bird and the monstrous creature of a handle in juxtaposition. It is so Victorian. Condition: Excellent

This pair of porcelain goblets or chalices was produced in England by Royal Worcester in the late 1870s. The mark goes off the edge of the porcelain not showing the date letter assigned to the year they were produced. The famous Worcester artisan, George Owen, was the first to perfect the art of double walled porcelain. The chalices are 7 ¾ inches high with a diameter of 3 5/8 inches at the opening. The outer layer of porcelain on the bodies is delicately pierced in honeycomb fashion. The pedestal bases are completely pierced through. The rims are jeweled with raised enamel beads. There are reserves of Japanese style herons painted in gold enamel paint. The reticulated surfaces are accented with raised gold beading and there are bands of tooled gilding. This pair is a magnificent work of porcelain art. Condition: Excellent

This porcelain plate was produced in England by Worcester around 1770. We have seen other pieces of Worcester in this pattern and although there is no marking, we believe it is Worcester. The diameter of the plate is 9 inches. The plate is rather deep. The border is colored with olive green enamel. The interior of the plate has hand painted flowers cascading across it. They are delicately painted with bright colors. The inside border is trimmed with gilded scrolls and the rim has gold trim. Condition: There are a few nicks in the gilding on the rim of the plate and one tiny chip. For such a rare example of Worcester, it is quite good for its age.

This porcelain vase on stand was produced in England by Royal Worcester in 1878. The date letter indicates this year. It vase stands 5 7/8” high and is 5 ¾” across the handles. The piece appears to be in two pieces, the bowl on the top and a stand on the bottom but is it made in one piece. The Asian inspired shape and design evolved from the Aesthetic movement. Friezes of gilded peonies and a gilded bird in flight, surrounded by flowering branches decorate each side of the bowl. The base has bronze-like accents to the feet. Worcester styled this piece after ancient Chinese bronze objects and turned it into a unique porcelain creation. Condition: There is light wear to gilding on base.
