Joseph (Jusepe) Ribera, Spanish, 1588-1656. This exquisite portrait of a boy brings to mind Caravaggio. It is oil on canvas and signed faintly with the Monogram J R lower right. It is in good condition, has been relined long ago, and is 34.2cm H by 23.1cm H. It is in an antique frame with outer dimensions of 47.3cm W by 36.8cm H. This beautiful luminous Post Impressionist painting is titled in French verso "Automne Bord de Sevre Nantaise" Banks of the Sevre River in Nantaise, France in Autumn". His prices go up to more than $10,000.

Francoise Gall, french, 1912-1987. This wonderful beach scene is Francoise Gall at his best. It is oil on canvas, 16 1/8" L by 9.5" H in a beautiful 20th C gold leaf frame with outer dimensions of 22 6/8" L by 16 1/8" H. It is signed lower right and is in good condition. His paintings sell for up to $50,000 at auction.

Jean Jacques Henner, French, 1829-1905. This dreamy beautiful painting is oil on canvas, signed lower left is 15 7/8" by 24 1/8" in a beautifl period frame (24 3/8" by 32 7/8"). It is in good condition and has been lined long ago. There is an old tag on the upper back with the name in French and a price of $27,500. He is listed in Benezit and his paintings sell for up to $75,000.

16th C Italian Crucifixion, Joseph Heintz the Younger, Augsburg(1600-1678) Venice. This magnificent painting is oil on canvas with old relining. It was most likely commissioned for an altarpiece painting. The painting is 41.5 W by 41.5" H. Collectors label verso. Provenance: Private Midwestern Collection, Private NY Collection, Private Prominent Old Master collection of J.J. Hollenbeck, Palm Beach Florida . Verified by Robert Simon, NY, NY as 16th C Italian Venetian. This painting has been verified as 16h-17h C Italian Venetian alterpiece by Expert Robert Simon NY, NY and is from a prominent Old Master collection. The painting is also a very rare example of a chronicle of the crusades. In the background one can see various cities of the crusades from left toright and on the right front side are the soldiers on their horses returning to their countries.

Raphael Soyer, N.A., NY 1899-1987. This charming portrait of a nude black haired woman with upturned arms is oil on canvas. It is about 8" by 10" in a lovely newer frame. It was in the private collection of a prominent North Carolina Art Dealer.

Claude Charles Buck, Santa cruz, California, 1890-1974. This stunning jewel is Claude Buck at his usual dreamy best. It is oil on board of a beautiful red haired mother and child in a landscape with a crescent moon and flowers. It is 8.5" w by 12" h in a lively french styled frame with overall dimensions of 17.5" w by 21" h. It is oil on board, signed and has an additional drawing on the back. It is framed in a beautiful gold leaf frame. His painting go for up to $25,000 and he is listed in Davenport and Who was Who in American Art.

Samuel John Peploe, Britain, Edinburgh 1871-1935. This large impressive dreamy impressionist painting is oil on canvas, signed lower right and on stretcher bar. It is 24 2/16"H by 36 3/16" W in a newer impressionist style frame 37 3/4"H by 49 5/8"W. It has been lined with some scattered inpainting. Peploe studied at the College of Art in Edinburgh and the Academie Julian under Bouguereau and a member of the Scottish Royal Academy. His work is in the Edinburg and Glasgow Museums, is listed in Benezit and his paintings sell for up to 1 Million USD.Samuel John Peploe (27 January 1871 – 11 October 1935) was a Scottish Post-Impressionist* painter, noted for his still life works and for being one of the group of four painters that became known as the Scottish Colourists*. The other colourists were John Duncan Fergusson, Francis Cadell and Leslie Hunter. Born in Edinburgh, he studied at the Royal Scottish Academy schools from 1893 to 1894, and then at the Academie Julian* and Academie Colarossi* in Paris, where he shared a room with painter Robert Brough. He visited Holland in 1895, returning with reproductions of work by Rembrandt and Frans Hals. From 1901, he undertook painting trips to Northern France and the Hebrides with his friend J. D. Fergusson, another of the Scottish Colourists. Inspired by the bright sunlight, he experimented with the bold use of colour, and the influence of the rustic realism of French painters, and of the modernist Glasgow Boys*, is evident in his landscapes.Peploe moved to Paris in 1910, a period which saw him concentrate increasingly on still life and landscape painting. His still life works show the influence of Manet, with combinations of fluid brushwork, thick impasto* and dark backgrounds with strong lighting. Returning to Scotland in 1912, he went on regular painting trips with friends to many parts of the country, and during the 1920s he spent several summers with Francis Cadell, another Scottish Colourist, painting in Iona. Peploe was strongly influenced by French painting throughout his life. Although his work never became overly abstract, it was notable for its use of strong colour, tight composition, and meticulous execution. He died in Edinburgh in 1935. His paintings sell for up to $1.5 Million at auction.

Gustave Courbet,(attributed) French, 1819-1877. La Recolte de Pommes de Terres, The Potato Gatherers is an impressive landscape with peasants harvesting potatoes in a rocky terrain. This large oil on canvas is 29"H by 36.5"W in the original 6" period frame. It has been lined and restored. Ir is signed though a ghost signature as a result of overcleaning in the 1990's. Provenance: Purchased by Jack Sartor, Dallas Art Dealer from a gallery in Pasadena, CA ca 1958. Sold to David R Russell, Dallas, Texas for his collection in 1960.(He submitted documentation to the Frick Museum, N.Y. see copies in 1960. It was signed at that time lower left.) Resold back to Jack Sartor after that and remained in the family. Bequethed to Scott Sartor, son. Bought by present owner in about 2006. Courbet is a famous and very well regarded artist whose work can be seen in most major museums such as the Metropolitain Museum, Musee D'Orsay, Paris, as well as at least 50 smaller museums. He is listed in Benezit and many other publication and his auctions records go up to $1.644 Million.
