Max von Schmaedel, German, 1856-?, oil on Academy Board, Portrait of Miss Davenport, 12 x 9 inches, signed and inscribed "M. v. Schmaedel/München" lower right, period frame. The sitter is identified in a copy of a letter dated August 3, 1905, from Seth Mendell to William C. Davenport, President of The Machinists' Bank, Taunton, Massachusetts, in an envelope affixed to the back of the painting. Provenance: Estate of N. David Scotti, Providence, Rhode Island.

Georges Lucien Boichard 19th Century French Portrait Painter This is an original oil on mahogany Panel by French artist Georges Lucien Boichard. This painting is signed and dated 1883 upper right. The painting measures 13 1/4X9 1/4 inches. It is housed in a period gilt frame with added inner liner. Boichard was a well known French Portrait artist. He lived in Paris and his work was accepted to the Paris Salon in 1880. The overall frame measures 23X19 inches.

Milton H. Lowell 1848-1927 American This is an original oil on canvas painting by New York State artist Milton H. Lowell. The subject is of an old rural homestead seen in early Autumn. This painting was created between 1890 and 1910. This work is signed lower right M.H. Lowell and has an image size measuring 16X24 inches. Very nice condition, recently cleaned and lined, housed in a period gilt frame.

Marshall Johnson 1850-1921 American, Boston This is an original oil on canvas by American Marine artist Marshall Johnson. This view of a Sailboat in a stormy sea. This painting measures 14X18 inches. It is clearly signed lower left corner. It came to us in what appears to be the original turn of the century picture frame. The painting is in superb condition, no evidence of any repairs or inpainting...

Hermine David 1886-1970 French This is a fine original oil on canvas by French artist Hermine David 1886-1970. The subject is a group of strollers in Luxembourg Gardens, Paris. This painting done circa 1930 is signed lower right and measures 18 1/8X15 inches. Housed in a custom French style frame. Hermine was one of the Ecole de Paris artists. In 1918 she married Jules Pascin. Their association seems to have been an influence on the artwork of both artists.

19th Century American School 1800-1899 American Artists This is an original oil on canvas painting of an Ox and Cart coming down the road. The painting has 3 intials lower right, they seem to read: "W. ?. S." Weve been unable to make out who the artist was. We feel the painting is from the late 1890's and is most likely American in origin. The painting was expertly done. The canvas laid on board measures 19X13 inches and is in a 19th century gilt frame.

This 1862 oil on canvas by the British artist Alfred Vickers measures 11 3/4 x 15 3/4 inches, signed and dated l.l., housed in original frame, partial European label on back. Born in London, Vickers was a self-taught landscape painter, who exhibited at the British Institute and the Royal Academy.

Henry Mortikar Rosenberg 1858-1947 Canadian/American This is an original oil on board painting by American artist Henry Mortikar Rosenberg. This study of a museum visitor was originally in the collection of the Mobile Museum of Art, Alabama. The painting is signed lower right in pencil and inscribed on the back. The image measures 16X12 inches. A few minor spots of touch up, nothing major. A fine modernist impression. Rosenberg studied under Frank Duveneck.

19th Century American, "Landscape with Waterfalls". This is a very fine Hudson River School landscape, oil on academy board, 9 3/4 x 18 3/4 inches, c. 1880s, unsigned, in an ornate period gilt frame. Although this painting is unsigned it is quite well painted, evidently by a very competent artist.

19th Century American School 1800-1899 American Artists This is an original oil on tin painting of a young woman. It is apparently unsigned and so we are calling this 19th century American School. The painting measures 8X7 inches, it came to us in a period gilt frame which measures 12 1/2X11 1/2 inches. Expertly painted, this is a fine example of 19th century American portraiture.

20th Century American School 1900-1999 American Artists This is an original painting, Gouache and watercolor on blue toned paper. This view of Rowers in the park came to us unsigned, we do not know who painted it, it was created circa 1930's nicely framed, the image measures 8 1/2X12 inches. Rich colors, nicely framed with archival materials. The overall frame measures 15X18 inches. Unexamined out of the frame. Most likely a work by one of the 1930's American Illustrators...

Nora S. Unwin 1907-1982 British/American This is a fine watercolor painting by American artist Nora S Unwin. The title, inscribed on the backing board is: A Memory of Greece. This painting is hand signed and dated 1966 by the artist. The image measures 13 1/2X17 1/2 inches. Unwin was the well known artist and illustrator who lived and worked in Peterborough New Hampshire. This watercolor on artist board is in very fine condition.

Maria Ada Gianni 1873-1956 Italian This is a fine original gouache painting by Italian artist Maria Gianni. The scene is the Bay of Naples with Mt Vesuvius in the background. The painting is signed lower left. The image measures 5X12 1/2 inches and came to us in what appears to be the original early frame which measures 8X16 inches.

20th Century American School 1900-1999 American Artists This is the third watercolor and gouache painting that we recently acquired. All park scenes, all painted on a blue toned paper, nicely framed with archival materials. We are unsure who this artist was, most likely one of the mid 1930's American Illustrators. The image measures 8 1/4X5 1/4 inches. Unexamined out of the frame. Probably a view in Central Park N.Y.
