This set of 6 porcelain plates were made in France in the mid 19th century. The may have been made by a Paris porcelain decorator. The plates have a diameter of 9 5/8 inches. A cup and deep saucer in the bamboo pattern with an early printed Spode mark on the cup. The transfer design was applied over glaze by the “pluck and dust” method of transferring color followed by hand painting of the gilding. The color is referred to in the Spode literature as, “chestnut brown,” though this one has a reddish tint. Saucer 5 ½ inches diameter, cup 2 inches tall.
Condition: no chips, cracks, hairlines or repairs. Very minor gilding wear.

A pair of dry drug jars decorated with blue leaves top and bottom and the drug name in the middle, all over a light grayish blue glaze. This form is typical of the 18th century Italian drug jars. The hand throwing on a wheel is evident on the glazed interior of both jars. 7 ¼ inches tall and 4 ¾ inches diameter, (18.5 cm tall, 12 cm diameter).
Condition; Both have chips on the base and roughness from throwing on the mouth. Both have later marking on the base with a magic marker.
