English George III era Old Sheffield silver plated meat dome cover with robust gadrooned border and removable cast acanthus leaf-form handle. The cover is adorned with a full armorial engraved into a plaque of solid sterling silver which has been let into the cover in order to prevent any underlying copper from showing through the engraved family armorial. Circa 1810-1820. Size: 14 1/2 in. length x 10 1/2 in. depth x 8 1/2 in. ht. Sterling silver fused over copper; tinned interior.

A pair of tall Sheffield plate candlesticks with conforming bobeche. On round bases with lines alternating with elongated ovals up the base, column and socket. This style was current around 1800. The wear or “bleed” where the copper shows is on the high places. They are 12 inches (30.5 cm) tall and 5 ½ inches (14 cm) diameter at the base. No marks. Probably English.

An unusually nice silverplated studs box, the top decorated with repousse chrysanthemums. The only clue to the box’s purpose of holding a gentleman’s shirt studs and cufflinks is the figural stud finial on the top. The bottom is marked for the Middletown Plate Co. This is a much more decorative example than most.

Origin: America, 1876-99. Condition: excellent, hardly any wear to the plating. Size; 2-5/8” diameter; 1-3/4” tall.

Measures 9 1/2" high, and roughly the same from tip of spout to end of handle, base is 5 1/2" wide and 4 1/4" deep. Beautifully engraved with foliate and scrolling designs, an oval cartouche on each side. Beading at base and top, bone finial, bone inserts on handle. Handle wobbles a bit, but is firmly affixed with visible wire. Lid fits tightly, no leaks or damage. Base is well marked, and appears to date the piece to the period between 1842 and 1864.
