Olympian sterling silver wine cooler. Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York. Each: Round with gently tapering sides and three reeded c-scroll handles with leaf mounts and caps. Foot ring with beading and bead-and-reel ornament, and 3 paw supports with leafy volute-scroll mounts. At bottom a dense repousse frieze of love-making, harp-strumming nymphs, gods, and cherubs. Very nice sterling silver sugar spoon with a plique-a-jour enamel handle decorated in three shades of translucent enamel. The matte gilt bowl has a rounded spade shape. The twist handle opens into a stained-glass like terminal. Plique-a-jour enameling was usually reserved for more delicate pieces like demitasse spoons, so a sugar spoon is rather uncommon. Unmarked, but probably European.

Ca. 1880. Condition: excellent, no enamel damage, original gilding. Size: 5-9/16” long.

A large classic tablespoon, the handle double-ridged and topped by a small lip. Impressed eagle mark and maker’s initials Abck: Co. Mid 19th century, Kentucky? Length "8½/ 21,5 cm, weight 48 grams. Condition: some wear consistent with time and a minor ding to the bowl (cf pics.).

Japonesque mixed metal on sterling silver bowl. Made by Gorham in Providence in 1883. Curved sides with allover spot hammering and gilt-washed interior overhung with apple branch mounted to exterior. A gnarly growth with irregular fruit and gilt leaves. Also applied birds and butterflies as well as cattails rooted in granulated soil. Three tapering supports. Nice sterling silver sugar spoon in Whiting's classic 1880 "Bead" pattern. Whiting's designs are valued because of the small details such as the scalloped edges of the bowl. The reverse is marked with Whiting's old hallmark.

Superb sterling silver tongs in the "Kings" pattern. These are of the finest workmanship, exhibiting crisp detail on a very heavy blank. Fully hallmarked for London, 1842, with the Victoria head duty mark. The maker's mark is "WE" in conjoined circles.
