From our European Collection, a good 19th century hand-carved hall chair with an armorial / heraldic shield, probably Spanish in origin. The wood used is a dense and heavy hardwood which appears to be either walnut or mahogany. The chair is armless and rests upon wooden casters.

Size and Condition: 50 inches tall, 18 inches wide, 18 inches deep. Overall very good condition with mostly minor surface wear to the wood commensurate with age and use...

A 2 section antique Japanese Kasane Tansu (stacked chest on chest) made of Kiri (Paulownia) wood and handmade iron fittings...

An antique Japanese Isho Tansu (clothing chest) made entirely of Sugi (Cryptomeria) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware including the Hikute style handles. Three drawers for Kimono storage with a small corner drawer where fashion accessories were stored.

Antique Korean Bandaji bedding chest made of Persimmon and Ginkgo wood. With nickel/brass hard mounts with cash patterns with a Ruyi symbol that represents a mushroom or a cloud with the book match Persimmon wood grain also mimicking the clouds. This beautiful cabinet would be considered true scholar taste in design and symbolism.

An antique Korean low chest (Nong) made of Maple and Pine woods. Four drawers across the top and a pair of hinged doors. Paper lined interior with brass hardware mounts including the pair of multiple stacking hinges with Ruyi Scepter design. Square lock with double happiness design.

An antique Japanese Chobako (merchant box) made entirely of Hinoki (Cypress) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware. Two drawers where papers, documents and writing instruments were stored. Top carrying handle to easily move box from room to room.

An antique Chinese wardrobe cabinet made entirely of Jumu wood. Large circular nickel/brass plate door hardware representing a coin which symbolizes wealth and prosperity. It was originally commissioned and made for part of a woman's wedding dowry. Two large doors open to reveal a spacious storage area with a removable shelf which can adjust to two levels...

Gorgeous Rare Japanese single section isho tansu (clothing chest) from Sado Island, made of kiri (paulownia) wood with translucent reddish orange lacquer finish, fantastic iron hardware including large and elaborate lockplates featuring phoenixes, safe door open to two small drawers, Meiji Period (circa late 1800's). Size: 44 1/2" high x 45 1/2" wide x 17 3/4" deep.

An antique Chinese skinny bench made entirely of Elm wood. Having acquired an antique patina over the years of weathering and loving use, it is sturdy and ready for its next century of function.

Contemporary uses include placement at the end of a bed, behind a sofa or in an entryway for ease of removing ones shoes before entering a home.

A fabulous two section Japanese Sado Island Isho Tansu made of burl Keyaki wood with Sugi frame and Kiri wood interior dating from the Meiji period (c.1900), with beautiful forged iron fittings on a lacquer finish, all original and in top condition, 3 keys. Size: L 45.5" x H 45" x D 17"

This very unusual table measures 52" square when closed, and has four leaves, each measuring 11 1/2" wide, bringing the table to 98" long when full extended. There is a center leg for support. The base has huge paws with decoration on the pedestal. It is in perfect condition.

Chinese square table made of jumu (elm) wood, great traditional style, 19th century. Size: 25 3/4" high x 32 3/4" wide x 32 3/4" wide

This is a pair of antique Chinese official hat chairs. Made of Chinese Elm wood, it was decorated with hand carved Linghi mushroom accents. The finish has traces of transparent Burgandy lacquer.

An antique Tibetan storage cabinet that also doubled as a shrine. Decorated in painted lacquer with playful snow lions as the central motif. The skirt is decorated in a key fret design.

This lovely canterbury or magazine rack is all reticulated walnut, circa 1880. It measures 24" wide x 14" deep x 25" tall and looks great from all angles.

A Late American Victorian Walnut Revolving Bookcase, with a Square top with Molded Edges. Two tiers with stick and ball spindle supports, small ball feet, cast iron center shaft and base. Dimensions; 21" square x 31.5" high. Some wear, but very good condition overall.

An antique Chinese bamboo and pine Etagere display cabinet from the late 19th Century. Black lacquered shelves featuring mountain landscape carving on drawer faces. Bronze drawer pulls. Beautiful rich color with an elegant design.
