Jerome's & Darrow Federal manner hand made shelf clock with wood works, Bristol CT. Provenance, Martin VanBuren Back, 1835-1920 (may already have been in the family for a generation.) We purchased from his direct descendant, David N. Back in the 1990s. We had the clock last serviced in 2006 and in good running order with reliable chimes. A Republic period hardwood couch made of Hongmu wood. Chou symbol of water dragons with marble in the apron and the back slat has auspicious flying bats and Lingzhi mushrooms with Qin dynasty archaic key fret patterns.

An antique Chinese skinny bench made entirely of Elm wood. Having acquired an antique patina over the years of weathering and loving use, it is sturdy and ready for its next century of function.

Contemporary uses include placement at the end of a bed, behind a sofa or in an entryway for ease of removing ones shoes before entering a home.

Pair Hepplewhite Mahogany carved Eagle inside Shield back Side Chairs, Ca. 1800, 39" high back, 19" wide, 19" deep seat, carved spread Eagle's wing within Shield back, straight legs with dovetailed stretchers and upholstered seats. The condition is good.

An antique Japanese Choba Tansu (merchant chest) made entirely of old growth Kiri (Paulownia) wood. All original patina and hand forged iron hardware including the Warabite style handles. Designed with 6 exterior drawers, 2 sliding doors and a hinged security door that hides 2 interior drawers. A spacious storage area and shelf behind the sliding doors stored the merchant's books and business records.

Lobed pewter bowl with an etched scenery of a rocky seascape, Mount Fuji in the background. The surface matted, silvery. Meiji period, c 1900, seal mark to the base. Diameter "6 ¼ / 16 cm. Condition: a black spot to the exterior removed by polishing (cf. pics).

A tall antique Korean Nong clothes cabinet decorated in mother of pearl with nickel hard mounts. Twelve landscape scenes with six stylized book match on front hinged doors. Key fret frame design surrounding doors and drawers.

Beautiful American Victorian hall tree, circa 1880, measuring 47" wide x 87" tall x 12 1/2" deep. Marble top over center drawer; original pans on bottom; beveled mirror. Walnut and burl woods, all in excellent condition.

An antique Japanese Shikiita Kadai burl wood display stand used for a Bonsai or Ikebana base. Hand carved upper perimeter rim with the organic exterior surrounding edge that was left intact. A beatiful stand that would showcase any object of art.

An antique Japanese Gyosho Bako (street peddler's chest) made of Kiri (Paulownia). All original hand forged iron hardware. Hinged door opens to 5 inner drawers of varying sizes where special wares were stored. 4 upper rings were used in conjunction with rope to provide back pack support. Unusual back handle was used to assist in lifting the Tansu onto ones back.

Pair of antique Japanese Inari foxes hand carved out of granite. Each has traces of the original mineral pigment. Also called zenko, these good spirit kitsune (foxes) are specifically associated with the goddess, Inari.
Believed to be both messengers and guardians, kitsune served Inari in her role as goddess of agriculture, specifically rice. Part of the folklore surrounding the fox is it’s ability to shape shift into human form...

Impressive large-scale Black Forest carved armchair in walnut with all over carved decoration of bark, branches, leaves and berries. Swiss. Circa 1870-1880. * Provenance: Anniee McCarthy, Newport, RI and NYC (label). Minor loss to tips of leaves on crestrail, caned seat was once over upholstered.

An antique Japanese Tansu chest called a Fukushima Kotansu made of Kiri (Paulownia) and Hinoki (Cypress) wood. All original hand forged iron hardware and hardened wooden nail construction. Used as a merchant accounting chest where papers, inkstones, brushes, and ink sticks were stored. 6 drawers of varying sizes.

A finely made and carved Louis XV style side chair, 19th century. Upholstered with fragments from an 18th century hunt themed tapestry. A charming and atmospheric interior accent. The chair in good, serviceable condition with expected wear. The upholstery simply divine - showing it’s age with conservation preserving its decorative impact. Seat height, about 18 inches. Back height about 38 1/2 inches.

Beautiful antique drafting table made by the Washburn Shops at the Worcester Polytecnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts, circa late 1800s. It has a black cast iron adjustable base with hand painted legs that are in perfect original condition. The height can be adjusted, as well as the top, which can be angled to any degree. It measures 46" high x 26" wide x 28" when flat. This is not only a beautiful piece of drafting use, but a work of art as well
