Rare English Regency Tea Chest in rosewood, of sarcophagus form with a paneled lid opening to a fitted interior retaining a pair of Anglo-Irish cut glass tea caddies and sugar bowl and original felt lining under the lid, circa 1830.
Cut crystal containers were very expensive at this time, almost as expensive as silver. It is very unusual for tea chests to retain their original crystal fittings.

In remarkable original condition, the gold lacquer decor represents the culmination of techniques for using gold leaf, gyobu nashiji, kirikane, kinji for a decor that continues from the inside of the room. door to the other door in continuity on the drawers.
Originally for storage of tea ceremony utensils or cosmetics as gifts from wealthy aristocrats. Original lacquered box with inscription.

Huanghuali Chinese footed alter table with stunning detail and carving. Central panels are perfectly book matched. Each panel measuring 6 1/4" wide. Leg panels are carved into double water dragons with strolling Lingzhi pattern. The carving follows the motif along the apron.
