Two baskets are being offered here and both are from the Northeast, most probably from the Penobscot of Maine. They are lidded, made of splint ash, and use natural dyes of green and orange.

Basket 1, although it has a square base, is 14 3/4" in diameter and 11 1/2" in height. They are about 3 smallish splint breaks as shown in the photos, but the basket is structurally sturdy. Basket 2 has a medial sweetgrass braid and a dyed interior. The 4 3/4" in diameter and 2 1/2" in height.

A group of Penobscot Maine baskets of small size. Each features the use of sweetgrass and various natural dyes. The condition of each is excellent, with good color and little or no splits, etc.

The baskets are as follows:

m1007: a lidded amphora shaped basket with blue dye 5 1/4" height, 6 1/2" diameter
m1008: a lidded round basket with orange and blue dyes 1 3/4" height, 3 7/8" diameter
m1009: a lidded thimble case with orange dye 1 1/8" height, 1" diameter

This is a very rare Iroquois female effigy bone carving adopting the "September Morn" pose (one hand on the chest and the other hand over the genitals or the abdomen). It is from West Bloomfield, New York, Seneca. "1600 to 1620" carefully printed in black ink on the reverse. She shows a pronounced band at the forehead, as if wearing some head gear or maybe some hair style. Cheeks are shown as broad and flat. Prominent breasts. This piece came from the Robert N. Converse collection...

Alaska Eskimo harpoon spear point 2.3" long, circa Thule culture 1200 AD to 1700 AD. It was found on Saint Lawrence Island located in the Bering Strait Northern coastal region of Alaska. It has beautiful dark patination. In great condition and is very solid.

This incredible delicate Columbia Plateau gem point is made from highly translucent agate. No bends, curves or stacks. Beautiful edge work. Super thin. Found at The Dalles. It is a huge 2 3/4". A true G10. I've never seen one better. Ex Dean Mesnard. A once in a lifetime find. Tony Putty COA.
