A very rare and interesting Islamic pottery tile with medallion and arab Muslim writing inside, pre 15th. century AD.

The tile would looks be of Khorassan and dating ca. 12th. century AD, but is guaranteed to be pre 1500.

Greyish pottery with low relief but sharp imprint. Crescent and sun visible as Islamic symbols and floral and geomethric decorations. In the center a medallion with Cufic or Arab writing.

Pearly white glaze with Sgraffito decoration (relief), pottery bowl with flaring body rising from a short foot. The sides decorated with a beautiful Sgraffito pattern of ovals and center and rim decorated with splashes of brown.

Condition: Choice. Almost perfectly intact and with fine grazing and inherent iridescence.

A wonderful pottery bowl, in a original state for type with Pseudo-caligraphy, Islamic, ca. 10th.-11th. century.

A larger conical bowl both wide and tall and decorated with stylized pseudo-caligraphy in black on beige glaze all around the interior and a line in green near the rim. Inscribed with old hand from the collector in the bottom 'Nichapour'.

Size: 25 cm. wide and 11 cm. tall.

Condition: Choice for type. A few cracks restored, but much original glaze. See...

An nice larger mirror in bronze, Islamic, 10th.-12th. century AD.

The islamic bronze mirrors were typically made in the Chinese style of the Han Period with added islamic elements. This mirror is large and with a recessed face and undecorated back. Small loss to the handle.

Condition: Choice, fine smooth water-green patina. Old Collection tag on the reverse.

This pair is part of a collection we are posting on the site. These are often misidentified as crossbow arrow ends. However, to our knowledge no such items have ever been found associated with crossbow bolts. These particular pieces went over the ends of the wooden ribs in large parasols.
