This is an extremely rare Egyptian wood carving of the god Ptah-Sokar-Osiris with a plumed crown and ram horns. It dates to 664-525 BC. It measures 57.7 cm in height (22.7"), 23.3 cm at its widest and 10.2 cm at its greatest depth. The wood has 6 different pigments that have been painted onto the wood in intricate designs. Deep blue glazed faience shabti for Nesy-per-nub, one of the important priests in the second Cache of Deir El Bahri. His shabtis display text variants that refer to his various titles.
The two columns of hieroglyphic text read: (1) O shabti, say: I will irrigate [the riparian lands] (2) for the Osiris, the ‘Scribe of the temple of Mut’, Nesy-per-nub, justified.
The hieroglyph for the goddess Mut is cursorily rendered. Strangely enough, the craftsman forgot the hieroglyph/phone...

Seated bronze cat with arched back and noble posture of the head. The tail curled around to the front. The small head with beady eyes and erect ears, mouth and nose engraved.
The cat features very long forelegs and a small chest, on which appears an incised necklace with a rudimentary Eye of Horus pendant.
Cats were the embodiment of Bastet, goddess of Bubastis and patroness of joy and women.

Relics of the Nile is pleased to present this outstanding and well-wrapped ancient Egyptian mummy. This mummy features fine wrapping with an outer shroud surrounding the ibis within. This is in the style found in similar offerings to the god Thoth and dates to the Ptolemaic period, ca. 350 B.C.. This is a rare mummy and is an excellent example of an ibis mummy. The mummy was originally part of the Wallace N. Stearns collection and was part of the MacMurray College collection in Missouri.
