A rare and attractive early Egyptian vessel / beaker, dating to the Old Kingdom, 2649 - 2150 BC.

The conical beaker with a wide flat rim and craved in finely banded alabaster.

Size: 68 mm. tall. and 62 mm. wide over the rim.

Condition: Very fine for the very rare type, with small chip to the rim restored.

Ex. Old German collection, aquired 1960s-1970s.

A very rare and interesting large fragment of a sculptural torquise blue faience vessel with moulded decoration, Egypt, probably Amarna period, 14th. century BC.

The fragment represent up to 40% of what was once a hemispheric low bowl with pseudo handles and black and torquise glaze. Moulded decoration of large snake and the tail of another which would have adorned the other side.

This is cone number 576 from tomb number TT 295 for the scribe Paroy, also known as Djehutymose. The cone is wonderfully inscribed and detailed with clear glyphs. Interesting collection of a faience Shu amulet and a book from the property of Lord Grenfell. Francis Grenfell was an interesting person with a very exciting life. The book „The Sacred Beetle: A Popular Treatise on Egyptian Scarabs in Art and History“, by John Ward has a personal dedication from the author to Lord Grenfell from 1903.
The faience Shu amulet comes also from the Lord Grenfell collection.

Certain items of jewelry, such as the scarab, carried religious significance to the ancient Egyptians. An alabaster cosmetic vessel of squat baluster form, a rather substantial and attractive specimen with ancient remnants of Kohl inside!

Size: 56 mm. tall and 53 mm. wide.

Condition: Nice VF, the lip with some small edge chip, othervise superb and attractive for it's type.

A finely incised Beetle scarab of a more naturalistic form with detailed engraving of the Beetle itself, New Kingdom, c. 1539–1075 BC.
