Beautiful pottery dish with torquoise glaze, black markings and a finely decorated pattern, Seljug period, 11th.-12th. century.
The Dish in an almost untouched state with fine silvery irridescence on the surface. Very beautiful colours.

The seal is round and relatively flat with central piercing and engraved with a symethrical Cruciform pattern on one side and a horned animal on the other side.

Lovely bronze battle axe, Ancient Near East, early 2nd. millenium BC.
Finely made battle axe with a long enforced and narrow blade with a ridge at the top and an elaborately made socket in a zoomorphic shape with a broad decorated backplate.

Condition: Very fine, intact with a rough uncleaned encrusted green patina over beautiful brown and red surfaces. Can be cleaned.

This is a finely engraved haematite cylinder seal. The seal is engraved with the sun-god Shamash, his foot resting on a small mountain, carrying the saw-weapon in his right hand, a worshipper approaches, wearing a fringed rope.
A suppliant goddess stands behind the sun-god Shamash, wearing a flounced robe, her hands raised in adoration.
Between them a ball-staff and vessel. Space for column of inscription...

A very special and rare stamp seal, carved in the shape of a high tower with 4 turrets. The base engraved with a seated humanoid figure beside a tree. Drilled at the top.
Size: 28 mm. tall and 16,5 mm. wide at the max.
Condition: Very fine, loss to one turret but othervise good very fine and with a nice ancient patina.
Added to the Oberländer collection in 2004...
A massive and superbly preserved bronze mace head decorated with faceted knobs around the swollen head and flanked by grooved bands on a tubular shaft, later bronzeage, ca. 1200-800 BC.
Size: Unusually large for type - 14,5 cm. tall and 7,5-8 cm. wide! Weight: 660 grams.
Condition: Intact and very attractine with a wonderful red and green patina.

This is an ancient bronze short sword from Northwestern Iran. It has a choice, predominantly blue patina mottled with green and red. The lower half of the hilt is basically ovoid in hape with a lappet-flanged area on both broad surfaces. Flanged areas often held inlays of wood or bone but a lappet flange of this type was probably a decoration in and of itself. The upper half of the hilt is also ovoid but with the broad surfaces oriented perpendicular to the lower half.
