A lovely ancient Egyptian Scarab, c. 1070 or older, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 9/16” long (14 mm) and made of faience. Scarabs empowered life and resurrection and were often placed under mummy wrappings to protect the body and to help it resurrect. Pictured on the bottom are images of vulture goddess Mut, and an Ankh. This Scarab comes in a jewelry display cup.

Relics of the Nile is pleased to present this ancient Egyptian 3rd Intermediate Period upper ushabti fragment. This upper torso from an ushabti remains in a condition that is somewhat worn, but the headcloth, arms, face, etc. are still evident on the ushabti. Some of the painted features such as the "shesh" headcloth are still present and the sulk and hoe, and seed sack on the back are still visible, although the original pigment is worn...

A nice and interesting large ceramic seal, square seal plate with small knob handle at the back and depicting animals within a square dotted border.

A nice smaller stamp seal in a fine stone, engraved with a cross-linear grid-like pattern. The fine engraving of the base is a tell-tale for the late manifacture, Levantine, c. 2nd. millenium BC.

It is 1/2” long (13 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Glyphs appear to include a Red Crown. Scarabs empowered life and resurrection and were often placed under mummy wrappings to protect the body and help it resurrect. This Scarab comes in a jewelry display cup.

Interesting pottery flute in the shape of a bird. Greek dating to c. 600 BC.

The body is very nicely detailed with naturalistic bird features.

A lot of two lovely points in fine pinkish hardstone from the private collection of P.F. Wulff, found St. Francis County in Arkansas. We're selling this very old collection in smaller lots to give everyone a chance to own a small piece of the pre-historic Americas!

The two points carved in scarce translucent hardstone, not silex. They can probably be dated to the 2nd.-1st. millenium BC. Very hard material and amazing that they could manage to make such refined artifacts of this size...

Ancient Near East, Luristan, ca. 1200 to 800 BC.

A large elaborate bronze cloak pin, cast via the lost wax (cire perdue) process with poppy flower shaped terminal.

Used to fasten clothes, in this case due to the unusually heavy fabric and decoration, likely leather for presentation use - perhaps for a very thick cape or leather armor. The lower terminal decorated with knobs and 3 spikes.

Size: 15,8 cm...

Interesting spindle whorl, decorated with bulls eye symbols, Mesopotamia, 2nd.-1st. mill. BC.

Size: 25 mm. in diameter and 10 mm. high.

Condition: F-VF, old wear to edges. Patinated.
