This 19th century Chinese bamboo armrest is carved with calligraphy. The carver Zi Qing dedicated this to his friend Zi Zhen. It is 9 1/8 inches long and 2 inches wide. It is in very good condition.

The top part of the cylinder presents the story of the seven immortals of the bamboo grove. Four immortals are looking at a scroll picture; two are playing ¡°Go¡± and one is watching them play. The bottom half of the cylinder depicts five elders gathering in a garden surrounded by pine trees...

A gourd is grown inside a carved wooden form to create a patterned body. The lid is wood with carved horn. The cricket cage is dated to late 19th century. It is 6 1/4" long and 2 3/4" wide. It is in good condition.
