Up for auction is an antique Chinese Qing Dynasty 19th or early 20th century Manchu imperial 1st rank Mandarin's wife's black silk surcoat with 8 large roundels & 6 small roundels on the sleeves, each eabroidered with a crane, 6 peonies, 3 butterflies; rocks, buddhist auspicious symbols are on the sea waves and standing water ( Lishui), 4 metal ball-and-loop toggle buttons in the front, and it is backed with light green silk lining...

This Qing Dynasty scroll is a kossu woven silk tapestry (kesi is the Japanese term) meticuliously depicts the famous Chinese painting scroll by Ding Yunpeng called The White Horse Carrying Sutras. The original painting was done in 1625 and illustrates the story of the 2 monks who traveled through Western China with a white horse carrying the Buddhas Scriptures. The original hangs in the National Palace Museum (Forbiddon City in TaiPei).

The kossu textile is in excellant condition...

Large Chinese embroidered silk badge of a three toed dragon. The 3-toed dragon is the symbol of government ministers and public officials. This piece could have been from a wall hanging or off of a room screen. Color of badge is even; glare from the glass is making it look darker or lighter in areas. This badge measures 20.5" high and was placed on a cream colored closely cropped brushed velvet material, then framed. Framed measurements are: 26.5" wide x 33" high.

A properly dressed Chinese woman would wear a pair of leggings that would cover her foot bindings from her lower leg to the top of her lotus shoes. The leggings would be tied into place with a hand woven sash made specifically for that purpose. These lotus shoe accessories are now rare and very hard to find.

This pair of silk sashes were were woven with a floral pattern using 2 colors of brightly contrasting threads. The long warp end threads are braided into tassels...

The Zhuang are one of the larger of the Chinese Ethnic Minority groups. This is a rare old baby carrier from Yunnan Province. Because silk was not readily available in the rural areas, the use of silk as the background fabric indicates that this carrier came from a wealthy family. The central panel uses several colors of fabric appliqued into a large stylized lotus flower. Silk thread is used for the delicate satin stitched embroidery of butterflies and flowers...

Late Qing Dynasty (1890s to 1911) embroidered Chinese textile rank badge (also called mandarin square) denoting the third civil rank symbolized by the bird on the badge - the Peacock. Designs on background include peach, pomegranate, fish, shell and bats in flight among clouds and above the fungus of Immortality over the waves. Keyfret borders with peach, pomegranate and Buddha’s hand citron motifs, colors slightly faded, newer black velvet backing. Size 9x9.5 inches.

These were made by a doting Chinese grandmother in the early 1900's...Absolutely charming set of matching hat and shoes for young child with lots of intricate embroidery details. I will not break up this set....

Floral embroidery in several shades of blue silk thread decorate this white silk sleeve band. Mostly embroidered with satin stitch, there is a rose embroidered with peking knots and high-lighted with gold couching. An extra large antique Chinese Canton silk tapestry or coverlet, late 19th or early 20th century, embroidered with numerous kind of birds ( Bird of paradise, peacock, goose, crane, etc) and flowers ( Chrysanthemum, peony, etc) in a beige color silk ground, tons of embroideries executed in different techniques; backed with light blue silk lining; fringe tassels on for edges; overall in very good condition, all embroideries are intact, 3 light water marks- hardly noticeable...

Vest made of tiny bamboo beads and all hand-strung with cotton threads. It was worn till early 20th century (Quin Dynasty) as an underwear of silk garments, especially in the southern China or neighboring countries. It made a wearer keep cool and avoid the outer garment wetting by sweat. Generally in good condition but almost 30 beads are missing. 19th to early 20th century. 48cm x 52cm

Special offer- marked down from $600. Fine three panel wedding blanket from the Bouyi (Buyi) ethnic group Libo County, Guizhou, China. The Bouyi are a relatively small ethnic group- so embroideries from them have become quite scarce. The supplementary weft “well” patterned embroidery is silk except for the black medallions- the field is all handspun cotton. The black border is a later addition made from hand woven cotton. Antique Chinese silk kesi panel with a thin black border. It has a gold-tan main background color, with billowing clouds and rock formations in soft shades of mauve, muted blues, pinks, and greens. From the bottom edge, a sailboat with a striped sail approaches the shore while a man in red robes watches from his window. Two smaller boats can be seen off in the distance towards the top section of the panel. 19th century Size: 38" height, 9.75" width

Framed Chinese early Qing dynasty imperial silk and gold threads brocade fragment with 5 claws dragon. This piece most likely is under part(knee) of a dragon robe. This dragon holding a firing pearl flying above sea waves and mountain. Dimensions: 51 x 23 cm without frame, 73 x 45 cm with frame. Condition: no repair, stain outside the fragment, discoloration and loose threads at lower right part as shown due to the age. Shipping from Taipei, Taiwan via EMS at actual cost...

Antique 19th century Chinese Qing Dynasty Robe-Coat. A dark navy blue silk, gauzily woven, with numerous round medallions each enclosing a sinuous, five-clawed, horned ascending dragon and a descending phoenix in flight, amidst clouds, contesting a flaming pearl.
The coat is bordered by black Satin silk panels and trimmed with finely woven black silk ribbon...
