Striking example of the famous sterling, suede and leather "X" belt with dots designed (1940's) by Taxco, Mexico artist Hector Aguilar(1905-86). Currently measuring 2 1/4" Wide by 26" Long. Each end has an additional 1 3/4 inches if a longer length is desired. The dots are fixed in place but the silver X's slide on the suede and leather strap. I LOVE this signed Los Castillo bracelet! It has to be a Margot design while married to Antonio Castillo. The design number is an early one being #228. The almost 2 inch clasp is the crowning touch to the 7mm beads of 3 strands. Fitting nicely with a bit of a drape to the hang it has a 7.75in. wearable length. There is some patina showing on the beads that may make it look as though the bead is cracked but it is not...

A bracelet with this same fish pattern is featured on page 80 of the book MEXICAN SILVER by Morrill and Berk. Magnificent detail and a feeling that the fish is in motion.
