Both pre-1948 cuffs are signed Tobias and are 2 7/8in. tall. Each weigh 76 grams and 79.5 grams respectively. There is a one inch gap and they are sizable. The Repousse is deep and gorgeous producing an effect of dimension that is breathtaking. The fashion statement at the time was to wear cuffs such as these together...

This pair of Matl earrings are of the double birds design which is quite scarce. They are unmarked and came from a hallmarked, matching Matl necklace and bracelet parure in my collection. Many parure earrings are not hallmarked. However, they are unmarked and the price reflects such. They are 1.25 in. wide and 2 in. long. The carving on the tops is exceptional. They are screwbacks and could be converted to posts. Please call with any questions.

Generously long, with a hefty chain and an unusual stylized floral design, this early Mexican Deco necklace combines silver and copper in a playful yet still bold way. The graduated tulip links bring to my mind classic representations of the flower in Ottoman art - the blooms are slender and tall as opposed to the hybrids we are used today which are shorter and rounder. The minimalism of the floral links is set off by the cheerfulness of the mixed metals dangles, each made up of four "dimpled do...

Rare Mexican Deco silver repousse figural necklace, its five graduated links featuring what I believe to be a neo-Aztec interpretation of Cinteotl, one of the three goddesses of corn and fertility. Bare-breasted and kneeling in a corn field, holding in her hands an ear of maize and adorned with earrings and a pendant necklace, it is in fact two different figures that we are looking at; while the bodies and what surrounds them is the same, the jewelry and the faces themselves are different. I hav...

Salvador Teran never looked better in his designs than this necklace and earring set. The velvet is a double strand going around the neck and has a 16.5in. wearable. It is clean and perfect. The silver is thick and substantial weighing 128 grams. The lariat is approximately 24in. long to the end tips. One of the Los Castillo workshop earlier creations as is indicated by its low design number the “koi fish” bracelet dates from the years when Margot de Taxco was still married to Antonio Castillo and under the spell of Japanese aesthetics. The bracelet I am presenting here has all the distinctive elements of the motif – the fish swim in and out of undulating waves with air bubbles surrounding them and their tiny scales are carefully rendered en repoussage. Wonderful patina, comfortable art...

A trained sculptor, Felipe Martinez created some of the most amazing “mask” jewelry in the golden period of Mexico’s 20th c. Silver Renaissance. His ability to work with precious metal and stone is astounding, the two materials becoming like one whole in his inlaid designs while in his “mask” creations turning into living, breathing figures in a deeply serene sleep. I am particularly excited to present this combination pin/pendant necklace here not only because of the absolute beauty o...

We are looking at a signed Los Castillo design # 472. The necklace is 1 1/8th inches tall and has a comfortable length of 17.5in. Because of the height of this piece the wearable length is 16.5in. I have never seen this link in the past and it is made with open backed repousse which was used in the beginnings of the Mexican Silver Renaissance. The weight is a hefty 86 grams and reflects the quality of this necklace. This necklace came to me with a natural, very dark patina. There are no dents or...

There are buckle bracelets and then, there are BUCKLE BRACELETS! And a spectacular Mexican Deco specimen of the latter I am proud to be presenting here. Honestly, however, all the aaahs and ooohs aside, this is one of the most glamorous mesh jewelry I have encountered even though its design elements are few and quite simple, if one thinks about it. Extra wide and finely woven, the sterling mesh is flexible and comfortably wraps around the wrist. The buckle itself is smooth and glows with the war...
