From Ibaden, Nigeria this traditional Yoruba cloth was woven by the men of the village. It was worn tied around the waist of the woman, and used as a baby carrier. This piece was brought back from Africa in 1961. Hand loomed of cotton fibers, it has a wonderful soft color and texture. It measures 10" wide and 68" long including fringe.

Japanese woodblock print triptych of swimming turtles and fish with actor mons and human faces by Yoshu Chikanobu (1838-1912) dated 5th month of Meiji 19 (1886). An aquatint in colors by the famous Chinese artist Zao Wou-ki (Zao Wuji). He was born in Beijing 1921 and worked in Paris. Signed, dated '59 and numbered 32/95 in pencil. Condition: trimmed (die stamp of l'Oeuvre gravée only last 3 letters), slightly soiled and creased, reverse with annotations in pencil and traces of former mounting, one pinhole in image. A Lusan stem cup was in lovely size.
It was well preserved by reflecting the retrospective sheen of old condition.
Blue and white splashes were suffused against the dark brownish glaze background on the surface.
Loosening-feel body clay was revealed at the lower portion in beige tint.

A Longquan celadon stem cup was in purely light-green tint.
Being decorated on the surface and in the cavetto with carved motifs, the stem cup was well mold in decent shape.
Somehow tilted due to manual pottering, which was not unusual as we may expect from an old production

A colorful back buzi with a bear for a man, denoting the fifth military rank. Silk tapestry (kossu, k'o-suu) with metallic threads and painted details, the background covered by peacock feathers, which rarely survived to the present days. Blue silk lining. Description:

A Yaozhou bird feeder was well glazed in yellowish-green tint.
Overly glazed on the surface except the bottom where the grayish-white body clay was revealed, the small vessel was in slender shape and was segregated in eight sections on the surface.
It was preserved in perfect condition when greasy-feel glaze sheen was reflected charmingly.

Date: Jin Dynasty, 11th/12th century.
