From Ibaden, Nigeria this traditional Yoruba cloth was woven by the men of the village. It was worn tied around the waist of the woman, and used as a baby carrier. This piece was brought back from Africa in 1961. Hand loomed of cotton fibers, it has a wonderful soft color and texture. It measures 10" wide and 68" long including fringe.

 

A rare black glazed conical shape bowl, slight thinly potted, decorated with a natural leaf to interior center. Southern Song dynasty Jizhou ware. Condition crack to the body, no chip. Diameter: 14cm and High: 5cm.

A beautiful Chinese Cloisonne Tea pot of very large size featuring gilt bronze handle and top with exquisite foo dog images in cloisonne design. In excellent condition measuring approx. 13 tall and 16 inches at its widest point.

A rare example of russet Ding ware Conical form bowl, covered overall with russet-brown glaze. Song dynasty Hebei province Ding ware. The bowl broken into four pieces and re-glued, minor chips to foot rim. Similar pieces published in 'Hare's Fur, Tortoiseshell, and Partridge Feathers' item 14 & 15. Diameter: 14.5cm.

A blue & white dish, decorated with the scene of Great wall, rock, pagoda, five small merchant ships and a large junk ready to sail to South East Asia, cranes among lotus scrolls to cavetto rim. Ming dynasty 16th century Jiajing-Wanli period found on South Sulawesi. Condition with a tiny chip, one firing crack and three short hairline. Diameter: 26.5cm.

A rare found of Longquan celadon small dish, decorated to interior with unusual single fish, exterior with fluted sides. Southern Song dynasty Zhejiang Longquan ware. Condition is perfect, with no chip, no crack and free from restoration, except firing fault to be unglazed to outer rim. Diameter: 13cm.

A very unusual group of tomb figures, depicting three boys holding an zodiac sign. Painted and glazed pottery, the heads detachable. China, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). H. 25 cm. Condition: only one figure has a minor chip to the neck. No other damages or repairs, very nice old burial condition. Comes with a TL report from Ralf Kotalla in Germany.

A black glaze stem-cup with perfect condition, no any chip, no crack and no any repaired. Yuan dynasty 13th-14th century. Diameter: 11cm and High: 7.2cm.

A rare found Southern Song dynasty black glaze tea bowl, decorated with greenish Hare's Fur. Jian ware in perfect condition. Diameter: 11.5cm.

Japanese woodblock print triptych of swimming turtles and fish with actor mons and human faces by Yoshu Chikanobu (1838-1912) dated 5th month of Meiji 19 (1886). The convention of disguising portraits of actors arose in the Edo period when bust portraits of actors were banned, through the Tempo Reforms of 1841-1843, for being conspicuous and a detriment to public morality. Each panel measures about 14"V x 9 1/8"H. The print is in good overall condition with fading evident...

A fine antique carved Ivory figure of a fisherman with pole and a pipe in excellent condition measuring approx. 10 inches tall without stand.

An aquatint in colors by the famous Chinese artist Zao Wou-ki (Zao Wuji). He was born in Beijing 1921 and worked in Paris. Signed, dated '59 and numbered 32/95 in pencil. Condition: trimmed (die stamp of l'Oeuvre gravée only last 3 letters), slightly soiled and creased, reverse with annotations in pencil and traces of former mounting, one pinhole in image. Dimension: image: 39.6 cm x 44.5 cm, paper: 49.9 cm x 58.6 cm.

Description:

A Lusan stem cup was in lovely size.
It was well preserved by reflecting the retrospective sheen of old condition.
Blue and white splashes were suffused against the dark brownish glaze background on the surface.
Loosening-feel body clay was revealed at the lower portion in beige tint.

A Longquan celadon stem cup was in purely light-green tint.
Being decorated on the surface and in the cavetto with carved motifs, the stem cup was well mold in decent shape.
Somehow tilted due to manual pottering, which was not unusual as we may expect from an old production

A colorful back buzi with a bear for a man, denoting the fifth military rank. Silk tapestry (kossu, k'o-suu) with metallic threads and painted details, the background covered by peacock feathers, which rarely survived to the present days. Blue silk lining. Reference: Ladder to the Clouds, Jackson & Hugus Berkeley 1999, page 197 - No. 13.018 very similar badge. Condition: fine, minimal traces of wear. Dimensions: 29 cm high x 31.6 cm wide.

Description:

A Yaozhou bird feeder was well glazed in yellowish-green tint.
Overly glazed on the surface except the bottom where the grayish-white body clay was revealed, the small vessel was in slender shape and was segregated in eight sections on the surface.
It was preserved in perfect condition when greasy-feel glaze sheen was reflected charmingly.

Date: Jin Dynasty, 11th/12th century.
