A fine Edo period portrait of a sinewy middle aged samurai proudly seated before a pair of swords, a table upon which rests an ink stone and book at his right elbow. Exquisite detail in the figures face and fine lines and shadows in the clothing are reminiscent of portraits by the great artist Watanabe Kazan. The portrait is signed Higashiyama Giryo and dated Tenpo 3 (1832) and the epitaph is signed Raijo. The portrait appears to be of a samurai named Kanda Hojo...

A beautiful sterling mid-century modern link bracelet by Danish designer Carl Gustav Hansen, the son of Hans Hansen. The clasp is an ingenious screw bolt. The bracelet is very fluid as all of the links move. Elegant and sophisticated, this piece measures 7 3/4" end to end and is 3/8" wide. It weighs 28 grams. Great original condition. Meiji (1868-1912) Japanese Shofu Kajo Studio Vase with Sterling Silver by Shreve & Co.

The vase is 6 inches (15 cm) tall, and 4 inches (10 cm) wide.

It is in good condition with no repairs or chips, except a small hairline crack at the inner lip (as seen in the photos).

Shofu Kajo (1870-1928) invented several new techniques, including moriage porcelain.
