Deep rounded form with steeps side and slight indentation belom the everted rim, covered in lustrous caramel-brown glaze streaked with black element emanating from the central flattened base of the interior, the glaze thinning to a dark brown colour at the upper end, the exterior similarly decorated the glaze falling short of the foort with sumptuous globules dripping over the body burnt a brown in the firing...

A Northern Song Yue type celadon carved dish, decorate with carved flower motif covered with green glaze. PERIOD : Zhejiang (yue) Northern Song dynasty (960–1279 AD) MEASUREMENTS: 18.5 cm wide. CONDITION: Excellent, no chips, cracks, hairlines and free from restoration.

Frank A. Stockwell (American, 1890-1970) Vermont landscape painting with covered bridge. Oil on canvas. Size: 36 inches x 48 inches. Circa 1950s. Excellent condition and offered in a giltwood frame. Frank Stockwell was a Buffalo, NY painter and illustrator. He was also an active member of the Scottish Rite Freemasons in that city. His painting "Degree Night in the Robing Room," captures a backstage scene in a Scottish Rite degree ceremony and is owned by the Buffalo Masonic Consistory...

Description:

A bamboo brush pot was carved in uniquely curved form.
Decorated on one side with craved motifs of peony flowers and poems on the other side, the brush pot was preserved with Zu-huang(bamboo's inner skin) on the smaller sides.
It was in perfect condition when darken patina was earned.

Date: Late Qing periods, late 19th century.

A shallow dish, heavily potted, covered in a beautiful celadon glaze producing the crackles of the Geyao type glaze. The base is glazed while the foot rim is dressed with an iron brown wash and six dot mark. Periode : Qianlong (1736-1795 AD) Diameter : 28 cm. Condition : Perfect, no chips, cracks, hairlines or restorations.

Beginning from the top, two naval vessels laden with Samurai allude to the sea battle of Dan-no-ura where the Taira were vanquished by the Minamoto. The child emperor is shown in large proportion with the Minamoto general in smaller proportion...

A 19th century Korean mother of pearl inlaid black lacquer mirror chest comprised of two drawers and double hinged top all raised on base with corner bracket feet. The mirror stand missing from within (as is often the case.) Cranes and peaches among clouds in fret border decoration adorns the top, flower decoration on the sides and bamboo decoration on the back. Stunning Matl-Salas sterling silver Palomas combination pin/pendant with meticulously worked repoussage and coral, amethyst and turquoise jewels. One of the most impressive pieces I have seen, its quality makes me think that it's an early 1980s example and its size just has me dazzled. I have paired it with an earlier, handwrought Mexican chain with elaborate links and appropriate length for such a stupendous pendant - the result is, to my eyes at least - beyond words.....

This sterling silver and enamel bangle bracelet has a bold Nordic design that enhances its narrow, delicate shape. It bears the mark of Aksel Holmsen, an N in a square, which stands for the workshop’s ‘Norse’ line. The enamel is entirely intact, and is applied within bands of silver in the style of stained glass or cloisonne. The bracelet dates c. 1970, and measures 3/16 inch wide, with a diameter of 2 ½ inches and an internal circumference of about 7 ¾ inches. Weight: 20.8 grams

The second figural Graziella Laffi brooch currently in my inventory (please also refer to Troc item #1090959) this piece is really impressive and quite unusual. I believe that here too we are dealing with the representation of an ancient Inca god, shown with snakes around his waist and in his headgear. The deity's garb is made of thick silver overlay to add dimension and depth to the design, both qualities intensified by oxidation and carefully hand-chased details...

Stunning, big vintage 1950s Peruvian figural brooch bearing the signature of Italian-born Graziella Laffi, the so-called "Spratling of Peru". I believe the figure represents an Inca god, shown here with a snake coiled around his waist and holding two salamanders. The brooch is made of thick gauge silver sheet, perfectly cut and finished, with silver overlay parts and hand-chased details. A fantastic example of Laffi's exceptional design genius, it measures 2 1/4" tall by 2 3/8" wide...
