A conical Jingasa battle hat 6-1/2 inches (16.5 cm) high, 14-1/2 inches (37 cm) diameter entirely gilded outside with genuine gold. Inside is lacquered black and retains the tie holds for the liner. There is some writing within, and a maru-ichi crest. There is damage to the peak and edges, but is quite impressive looking, and was likely used by the immediate vanguard of the Daimyo. One of two variations we have, they are from Omi province, just outside of Kyoto in old Japan.

Margot van Voorheis Carr with a design #5551 is one of her large 1.25in. wide masterpieces. It is rare and this one has no damage anywhere. It came to me with a really deep patina and the lucky new owner may adjust to her liking. The weight is 110 grams. The wearable length is 16in. The drop measures 3in. x 1.25in. Halloween costume consisting of a papermache painted head of the Disney character Goofy, with a pair of adult size (38 X 30) overalls (Dickies brand). Maker is unknown but is very well executed and appears to be from a professional costume shop. Does need some minor stitching to the hat. Great costume just in time for Halloween!

Strong, impressive sterling silver and carved obsidian pendant suspended from heavy original sterling silver chain designed and signed circa 1950 by American and Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling(1900-67). A Chinese elongated pear form peachbloom glazed vase with everted rim. An attractive "liver" spot on one side of the vase. The glaze nicely controlled - stopping neatly, inside and outside, evenly above the crisply defined foot rim. At least early 19th century and possibly late 18th century. Excellent condition. A six panel gold screen decorated in a style harkening to the first half of the Edo featuring angular trees interspersed with blossoming cherries, a torrent splashing angrily through the right quarter topped with moriage gold clouds. Many repairs and losses to the heavy pigments attest to the great age of the painting. Excellent size for wall mounting, it is 62 x 138 inches (157.5 x 350 cm). The border is from a later mounting.
