This is a very old pre Spratling era Yalalag cross with it's original chain of a long 48 inches. Each cross on the chain is of thick silver. All of the beads on the chain are 9mm and hand made. The drop is 6in. long and the beads are much larger than the chains beads at 13mm. Again all the crosses on the drop are extremely thick silver and are also hand made. Pieces like this were normally not signed and this one is of no exception...

A cast silver pin/pendant with irregular branches and a lustered, textured surface. The abstract design is enhanced with a translucent lacquer finish that gives the silver a whitish or gold tint in some areas. The glass beads are a deep red to imitate coral and are secured with adhesive applied to the back, in some places excessively. The rollover clasp is in good working order; a sturdy bail is applied behind one tip. The piece measures 2 ¼ inches long by 1 ¾ inches at its widest area...

Depicting a battle scene of the "Tale of the Heike", an epic account of the struggle between the Taira and Minamoto clans for control of Japan at the end of the 12th century.
