Rare geometrical, eye catching sterling silver and azurite brooch or pin designed and signed circa 1940's by Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling (1900-67). Pin measures 2 3/4" across X 1". 12 handcut stones are set on either side of a center silver channel. The stones are shadowed by silver triangles. Beautiful unpolished vintage condition. Pin back and safety lock work perfectly. Fully hallmarked on the reverse. This design was featured in the museum exhibit WILLIAM SPRATLING AND THE MEXICAN SILVER RENAISSANCE and is pictured on p.97 of the exhibit catalog by Penny Morrill.
