Theodore 'Ted' Kautzky, N.A. (Hungarian/American, 1896-1953) original painting titled 'The Gnarled Oak.' Circa 1930s. Watercolor painting on 300lb. D'Arches paper. Size: 15 inches x 20 inches. Signed in lower right. Condition: very good with some minor foxing in the sky. This is the original painting that was published in Ted Kautzky's book, "Painting Trees and Landscapes in Watercolor" and illustrated on pages 86/87. A copy of this book is included with the sale of this original painting.

A Longquan bird-feeder was in plain form.
Well mold in round shape, the vessel was preserved in perfect condition.
The glaze was in pale green tint.
The scars left at the bottom were caused during pottering when the potter using a wire or thread to cut the vessel from the potter's wheel. A characteristic from old wares we usually see.
It was a rare piece from which some similar ones were in the collection of the Palace Museum of Beijing(see last two photos)...

Towering sterling silver Matl ring with pyramid-cut amethysts in Matilde's iconic Maltese cross design. I haven't found an Eagle stamp on this piece so I believe it's a pre-1948 example. Classic and irresistible, I like this version with amethysts only; it's more discrete, in a way, and not as folky as the rings that have corals and turquoise too...
