A wide low chawan tea bowl inscribed with a poem by Otagaki Rengetsu reading “Yo no naka ha tata utatane no shibaraku wo samenu yume ji ni matofu wari nasa. In the world only for the span of a nap yet wandering an inescapable path of dreams…such a mystery. (Translation from Rengetsu.org). It is 5-1/2 inches (14 cm) diameter, 1-1/2 inches (4 cm) tall and in fine condition.

Vajradhara or Dorje Chang in Tibetan is the ultimate primordial Buddha or Adi Buddha according to the Gelug and Kagyu schools of Tibetan Buddhism. This fine example is from Tibet or possibly from Nepal. It is well proportioned and has very nice facial features. Please note the fine engraving on the back of the figure. It is in a very good condition with normal age wear, a nice patina and remains of polychrome. H. 23 cm. From a Dutch private collection.

Measuring 2 1/2" high, and 1 3/4'" wide, this lac burgaute snuff bottle is capped with a green stone holding an ivory spoon. With very precise and fine details, the body is decorated with sections of geometric designs of both gold inlay and colored mother of pearl. The central area contains floral and foliate designs, also in gold with mother of pearl pieces of pink, green, and blue. The base has an inlaid mark of gold...

Red silk with blue borders, embroidered in colored silk and gold thread. The gilded buttons with scenes of figures in a boat. On the back of the buttons a text: ' rich treble gilt' and ' T.W. & W'. Dimensions: h. 89 cm, w. 157 cm (from sleeve to sleeve). Some stains and discoloring but generally in good condition. Ca. Late 19th/early 20th century.

Rare and early a Los Castillo Mexican silver and amethyst necklace, this beauty is a veritable Taxco treasure. Comprised of 3 strands of small, hand-wrought beads accented by a big, lusciously colored central cabochon, it is completed by a special silver clasp adorned with a smaller yet equally beautiful stone. The high content of the alloy used here (.980 instead of the standard sterling, .925) has allowed for the most wonderful patina to develop...

Fine Sung dynasty celadon deep dish or bowl in olive brown glaze. Glaze is silky yet some wear to bottom of the bowl as would be expected. Additionally there is wear to the base rim. In good overall condition. Diameter: 8.50 inches; height: 2 inches.

Japanese Meiji period teardrop form cabinet vase covered in a rich mottled blue glaze over a brown base. The vase bears the impressed mark of Okumura Shozan (1841-1905) on the glazed base. Shozan is perhaps best known for his remarkable copies of Ninsei and Kenzan works. 19th century. 4 1/8" high (5 1/8" on the stand). Stand included. Very good overall condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. There is a tiny pin-head sized area at the foot where the glaze does not cover...

Two Tibetan bone carvings of dancing Dakinis from a ceremonial bone apron. One Dakini carries a chopper, kapala (skull cup) and a skull scepter; the other holds a kapala in her left hand. Both have large scrolling swirls carved above and below them. The backs have numerous holes for stringing. The bone is probably from a Yak. Period: 18th/19th Century. Size: 16cm & 17cm. W. Both 4cm. Condition: No repairs. cracks or chips.
