Ming dynasty first half of 15th century, presume as Xuande-Zhendong ware. Condition is perfect. Diameter: 32.5 cm.

A small serving bowl of five petal form, rinkagata namasu-zara, with a stencilled pattern of imbricated waves, seigaiha, with cherry blossom, sakura-hana inset with two small reserves containing prunus and bamboo boughs. The reverse decorated with a simplified Lotus scroll and a four character Dai in nensei mark. A dark brown fuchibeni “lip rouge” glaze to the rim...

This unusual necklace is made from horn beads (presumably goat). The "hook and eye" ends act as a clasp and are also from goat.

This type of tissue holder is called "Hakoseko". This is to be placed between Obi and Kimono with the chains dangling in the chest area. Hakoseko is still being used today for very special ceremonial occasions, but it is very difficult to find an old quality piece like this. Obviously, this has been stored for years without being used. The condition is new with some faint storage stains. It came with a paper bag filled with straws instead of tissue papers...

Large rectangular Persian mirror case made of papier-mache and hand-painted in ink, watercolor and gold under lacquered varnish. The outer covers decorated with youth at leisure in the Safavid style. Nicely rendered and cast, with good detail in face and mane, this Roman bronze applique or roundel dates to the 1st to 3rd centuries AD, and measures 2 3/4" (vertical) x 2 7/8" (horizontal). It has two holes at the side for attachment, and also has holes where a loop was once attached at the mouth. This bronze is a very nice size, and has good patina, with verdigris and red bronze coloration evident, front and back. Additional photos always available upon request.

Of Janus form, with faces and bird beaks on opposing sides, this large food storage vessel is from the Chambri Lakes region, near the Sepik River in New Guinea. Formed of the local clay by the women, the decoration and paint was applied by the men, in honor of ancestral beings.
