Chinese late Qing dynasty sang-de-boeuf (oxblood) flambé glazed cylindrical form censer. The oxblood glaze drips inside at the rim above the thick off-white glaze lining the interior. The censer rests upon vestiges of three small tripod legs. The base is unglazed and has burnt orange. This sculptural Spratling design measures 3" X 1 3/4" and will accommodate a 1 inch strap. Each hand carved shell is held in place by 4 eye-catching sterling silver studs. The buckle is in beautiful condition with a warm patina. Signed with a script WS & 925 dating the piece to early 1950's.
