These old bronze lanterns are used in Japanese temples. They are often called "Toro" (pronounced toh-ro). One side of the lock (shown in the photo) did not open (I did not force it open). 17 inches tall from the Meiji period (1868-1912).

Bold and beautiful sterling and black onyx bracelet by Los Ballesteros. I believe this is originally an Antonio Pineda design. These are V shaped links with onyx inset into the sides. Each link is hinged and moves. It is in fine original condition, no chips or cracks to the stones. It measures 8 1/4" end to end and is 1 1/2" wide. A Japanese Satsuma Dragon Tea set (Shimazo Crest; Shuzan mark, from the Mejii period 1868-1912). The Pot is, 8" high, the Creamer is 5.5", and the Sugar is 7"; all with Lids. Hand painted in colors and gilt with Rakan (Buddhist disciples) and dragons. Pieces signed with mark on the bottom. The Shimazo Crest is also on the Side of the Teapot. There is a chip on the inside lid of the teapot that is not noticeable from the outside, otherwise it is in excellent condition...

Stunning 970 silver and moonstone necklace by Taxco silversmith Antonio Pineda. It is in fine original condition and measures approximately 15" around. It is curved to sculpt the neck so a bit hard to measure. It is 1/2" wide. The moonstones are clear blue and all original and in fine condition, no chips or cracks. Wonderful sterling cross and rosary beads by Taxco silversmith Hector Aguilar. I believe this to be quite rare and it is pictured on page 153 of the book SILVER MASTERS OF MEXICO BY Penny Morrill. The cross is 2 3/4" long without the bail,3 1/8" with the bail. It is attached to the rosary beads which measure 15" when hanging on the neck. It does not have a clasp and slips over the head...

This is the ARMADILLO CUFF, designed by Valentin Vidaurreta and made by Manuel Altamirano. It dates c. 1945-50 and is featured in the book MEXICAN SILVER by Morrill and Berk. The rounded shaped panels graduate in size measuring from 1 3/4" wide in the front to 1" at the back. It measures 5 3/4" around in the inside and has a 1 1/4" opening so it is for a 6 3/4" wrist. This little critter is out for lunch. Adorable little bug, great for a hat, a collar, or perhaps a pocketbook.Created by Dorothy Bauer whose creative designs are always charming and very collectible. The pin is 1 3/8" long to the tip of her antenna, and 7/8" side to side. The Bauer metal plaque is on the underside, and a description card with a collector's record is included.

The Heintz Art Metal Shop of Buffalo, New York made jewelry and decorative objects of patinated bronze with sterling overlay in cut out patterns. They were in business from 1906-1929 and although they did not sign their jewelry, their style is so distinctive it can easily be identified. This 2 1/4" by 1 1/4" pin is a fine example of the jewelry from this shop. It is in beautiful original condition and a wonderful piece of Arts & Crafts period jewelry.

A Brown glazed Ridgway Pottery Transfer Pitcher, with a Silvered Handle, Rim and Base. It Features "Scenes from Coaching Days and Coaching Ways"; from the Book "Coaching Days and Ways" by W. Outram Tristram and Illustrated by Herbert Railton and Hugh Thomson, published in 1888 by MacMillan in London. The Pitcher is 9.5" high x 4.75" at basem and dates from about 1890. It has a slight scratch on the side (see picture 4), but otherwise is in excellent condition.

Great design by Nettie Rosenstein. Gold plated metal with composition rams head. Back of pendant has a four leaf clover design. Chain is 14 1/2" end to end, pendant and tassel is 5 1/2" long and the ram's head is 3//4" deep and beautifully sculpted.

Tane is a noted silver company in Mexico City featuring jewelry and "Art Objects" with a strong emphasis on quality. Tiffany & Co. assisted Tane in the 1960's and 70's to expand. This beautiful necklace and earrings set is sterling square links joined together by a straight gold washed link. The necklace measures 16 1/2" end to end, is 1/2" wide and weighs 118 grams. The earrings are clip back and measure 5/8" long and 5/8" wide. They weigh 13 grams and hold securely and comfortably on the ears...

A great sterling bracelet by studio artist Frank Rebajes. We see many of his pieces in copper but few in sterling and this bracelet is terrific. There are 7 diamond shaped pieces that are on hinges and move sitting in a backround of oxidation. The last partial shaped diamond is the clasp. Measures 7" long and 7/8" wide, it is in excellent original condition. Weighs 47 grams and is signed REBAJES sterling. A great mid-century modern bracelet by this important designer.

A large baluster form Sumidagawa vase decorated in slips of green and black glaze over crackled red with a three-dimensional tokage (lizard) crawling down the side. The detail on the creature is superb, from the textured body to the white claws with which it seems to grip the sides of the slippery surface.
