Yup, she has the look, a perky hat, a kindly face, an hour glass body, basket carrying arms and sturdy legs that are continuous so she has a forced sit.
She is all hand sewn, stuffed firmly with cotton, continuous legs so she sits from years of forced sitting. She is wearing a dress that looks like a jumper but isn't, the top is one with the bottom. She is 18" tall and is from the 1880's. Welcome to summer!
This doll looks like one a Grammy made. She has a straight none committing mouth, a V shaped nose and blue outlined eyes with black eyebrows. She had some reddish brown hair but all that is left is a thin line around her head on the seam. She has firm but

This 1880 cloth doll has a very nicely drawn ink face with strong features softened by time. Her lips have a trace of red with a hint of a smile, her eyes are big and brown and her nose and eyebrows are a gray black this all adds up to a very kindly looking face. The black hat covers a trauma to her head and to her right ear. The rest of her face is not fragile so I think it was a blow to the head and ear not a breakdown of fabric...
Believe me I wouldn't consider bothering her. Take a look at those eyebrows, mercy, this is a doll you might exhibit by herself. That said, a few friends might help soften her around the edges. A man and woman black cloth dolls with composition heads. They were not made by the same person but they were sold to me as a pair and they are great together. She is 24" and very heavy. He is 27 " and is tall and lean with cool clothes. I think they are both from the 1930's. Both have early and probably have original outfits also the sun fading on the woman skirt looks like she had a different apron. They are in very good condition. A terrific pair of black dolls.
Not only is she happy, she also is a good cook. She is almost as wide as she is tall, has original clothes, great yarn hair, (see picture), embroidered face that is very well done. She is cotton stuffed, sits well and she is nice to hold. She is 18" tall and is circa 1910-20
This is a very dear doll in her very best dress and put together hat. Her body is all original and bends and sits well. Her blue print dress is a lovely fit and she is wearing lace trimmed pantaloons and petticoat. Her shoes are homemade and interesting. That means I don't really understand them but they are sewn on and she likes them. Her face has holes and mends as well as shell and bead eyes and a faint nose and embroidered mouth. This doll doesn't need any detective work to know that she is old and completely original. I think she has two other faces under this one but I would never take the risk of hating the other two faces and not being able to get this face back on. I often don't like to take socks off a doll. When you know by the looks that the socks have been on forever they never look the same when you take them off and put them back on.

This lovely late 19th C. black cloth doll is made with fine polished cotton material, all hand sewn and hand painted. The white band at her neck is part of her clothing and is not a neck stabilizer. The doll and the clothes appear to be hand sewn by the same seamstress/mother/Grammy. The astrakhan hair is the best I have every seen and makes her hairdo look very fashionable. This boy doll has a proud stance and a great outfit. His hands and feet are big and terrific. His hat is made out of a tin can! His clothes I think are original. Most cloth dolls probably don't have original clothes but there is an exception and that is, Boy Dolls. Boy dolls were often made for a boy and the doll didn't get played with the way girl dolls did. What a face, a skilled hand embroidered this great face and body. She is what she is, pretty amazing. This doll is very beautiful with very delicate features. Her eyes are sewn on pieces of leather, one is only 3/4 there now. They are stitched on and her eyebrows are done with a cross stitch that is very effective. Her nose is raised and stitched and her mouth is a few stitches of red thread, probably more at one time. I don't see many pairs of dolls and boys dolls I don't think I have had another pair. The older Daryl looks like he is in control and rather sweet, younger Daryl has apparently gotten the short end of the stick. He is sad. This little doll look perky and ready to go have fun. She is hand sewn, her head is just a little floppy. Her lips look like she has stuffing coming out but actually her lips are sewn with a running stitch so the under has pushed the fabric up. So there is no damage on her face. She is a classic little homemade doll with no fancy frills. She is 17" tall but looks and feels like a smaller one. C. 1890
A very unusual and great topsy turvy doll with a watercolor painted face. She has blue eyes, a perfect little kewpie doll mouth, reddish hair and a flaunty hap framing her face. The black doll has a red bandana tied around her head, she has white eyes and mouth and a sensible yellow dress with a black checked apron. She is in good condition with just the back of her bonnet shredded a bit and there is age related staining. She is 14" end to end and is circa 1890-1910.
Baby is a big heavy plump doll, all original body and painted face. She has on a dress that fits perfectly but probably isn't original. Her face is worn a little but no damage, maybe it has darkened with age?
I think she is the best baby. Nice defined fingers and separate thumbs. She has lost a lot of stuffing in her arms, I don't know how, and her legs have black stockings sewn on but everything feels right and original

Under the great blue calico bonnet this doll has a worn and wrinkle face with a pencil dot for eyes and a pencil line for a mouth. Her nose has gone flat but the bonnet makes her look adorable. All hand sewn from the nicest of material, this topsy turvy has style and detail sewing. Both faces are painted, the black face is on egg wash cotton and the white side is on fine linen. She is fully jointed and has fingers and thumbs. Her hands are unique, the maker sewed the outline of the fingers with the two pieces of cloth face out and then cut around the outside so there is a raw cut that is a bit messy looking but it worked. Talk about an hour glass figure, this one is an exaggeration, you can see she has been carried around gripped at the waist and I little hand could have gone around her easily. From our African Collection: A short Mossi Doll from Burkina Faso, from the mid 20th century.
Owned by Mossi girls and women, small figures like these that we call "dolls" could function both as a toy for a young girl or as an object to promote the fertility of a woman.
This rag doll has the gift of giving comfort just by looking at her. She is a little soft, her dress has been on her forever and has wear here and there. Under her dress she is wearing undies that look original. She is all hand sewn with fairly big stitches but sewn really nicely. Her legs are large and sturdy with feet that point east and west. No big or even little boo boos other than a little hole at her mouth. Maybe too much kissing or maybe the act of feeding a little porridge now and then....
