A handsome pair of 14K yellow gold double-faced cufflinks by Carter, Gough & Howe. The faces are formed from oval mother-of-pearl plaques surrounded by borders of opaque royal blue enamel and centering small pearls. The enamel borders have exposed gold dots and engraved rims. This particular design is usually seen in white enamel, but the blue makes for a very nice contrast. The connectors are stamped “14K” and have Carter, Gough’s hallmark.

They consist of two panels each with inset 14k gold panels mounted on tooled platinum frames. They have lined decoration and each has an HED script monogram...

A classic pair of Art Deco double-sided cufflinks featuring high-domed cabochons of carnelian and aventurine quartz set simply in silver collets. The faces are joined with removable connectors. The color contrast of the gems is rather striking. The faces are marked “830”.

A heavy pair of mid-century 14K yellow gold cufflinks, the rectangular faces edged in a border of channel-set rectangular cut synthetic rubies. The gold surfaces have a lightly, engraved Florentine finish ideal for monogramming. The toggle backs are marked "14K". Origin: America, ca. 1955. Condition: excellent, all original. A fine pair of 14K yellow gold cufflinks, the faces shaped as a convex curve of gold flanked on either side by square cut natural rubies. The superbly-matched rubies have excellent color and clarity, with no indications of heat or other treatment. The nature of the microscopic inclusions suggests Burma as the region of origin. We have seen a duplicate pair of these cufflinks, except set with sapphires, that were signed "Cartier NY"...

A very fine and heavy pair of French 18K gold cufflinks in the Aesthetic taste. The faces are hand-pierced and patinated in a bronze-brown shade with darker highlights in the recesses. A very handsome pair of 18K yellow gold cufflinks by Tiffany & Co. The oval faces are inlaid with onyx and mother-of-pearl in a checkerboard design surrounded by a band of opaque blue champlevé enamel. The reflective, iridescent nature of the mother-of-pearl is particularly attractive against the black onyx. The connectors are stamped with the maker’s mark for Larter & Co., one of Tiffany’s primary suppliers of better men’s jewelry throughout the 20th century...

These cuff links exhibit both a sturdy look and construction. They were probably produced for the tourist trade by different silversmiths in the same workshop, as each is slightly different from the other, mostly in the fins. The backs of one linked pair indicates the maker M. Velazquez; all are marked Sterling/Made in Mexico in the pre-1950s style. The back rings connect to short bridge chains; one rings is slightly bent but there is no damage or metal stress...

These 1920s cuff links are beautifully enameled in dark blue on a white ground; elaborate carved designs show through the enamel. Each button is edged with embossed sterling silver scrolls. Embedded vertical silver lines run down the center of the white ground and frame the blue diamond-shaped reserves. The bridge bars are secure and show no signs of metal stress; they each bear the maker’s mark C.Q.&R. for Carter, Qvarnstrom & Remington (1899-1930s), of Attleboro, MA ...

The rich look of these cuff links comes from the intricate engine-turned engraving and deeply embossed scrolled, vine-like borders. The backs exhibit securely soldered split bridge bars connected to domed anchor buttons known as bean backs. The bridge bars bear the mark for 14kt gold and what looks to be the maker’s mark of M.B. Bryant & Co., New York (1896-1915). There are tiny dots of tarnish on the fronts of both cuff links. Each rectangular button measures 5/8 inch by ½ inch...

These cuff links are composed of forged-wire bands that have been hand-formed into pinwheel shapes and anchor bars with curled ends. The anchor bars are marked sterling and are secured to the buttons with a soldered figure-eight link; the cuff links exhibit tool marks from working the silver. They are probably from the 1950s. The pinwheels measure about 11/16 inch across; the anchor bars measure 1 inch long. Weight: 9.7 grams total

Each longitudinal button is embossed with a Nordic sailing scene; there is engine-turned engraving lengthwise on the smaller buttons. The hinged bridge bars indicate the maker as Elvik & Co., of Oslo, and silver content of 830; the cuff links date c. 1960. The larger buttons measure just over 1 inch long by just under ½ inch wide. Weight: 8.5 grams total

These 1920s two-sided cuff links are nicely decorated, with molded circular centers reminiscent of engine-turned engraving and black enameled, eight-sided borders. They are marked sterling on the backs and the buttons are securely connected with soldered bridge links. Each measures ½ inch wide. Weight 5.6 grams

These oval undecorated sterling cuff links feature undecorated convex centers and recessed edges. They bear the mark of Link & Angell, a premier cuff link maker in Newark, NJ; they date c. 1910. The cuff links are of a good quality with securely soldered bridge links. Each button measures ¾ inch long by ½ inch wide. Weight: 6.7grams total

These cuff links are formed as gnarled bark, and appear to have a surface of light copper luster. They bear the mark of Pentti Sarpeneva of Finland (1925-1973), who worked primarily in bold designs during the 1950s and 1960s. The cuff links are securely hinged and measure 1 inch long by ½ inch wide.

Reminiscent of machine-age design, these mid-century silver cuff links are composed of applied semi-circular bars spanning the width of a flat, rectangular bar. The anchor bars are flat, plain panels with hinges. They are marked 830, with the maker’s mark of Eiler & MarlØe of Copenhagen (1920-1967). They measure 1 inch long by a little over ¼ inch wide at the areas where the curved bars are attached. Total weight: 18 grams
