Impressive & rare this hand forged sterling silver belt buckle inlaid with chrysocolla quartz was designed & signed by American & Taxco, Mexico artist William Spratling (1900-67). I have written in the past that Elna jewelry is more often than not very generous in proportions but this stunner of a bracelet goes above and beyond that! Signed and hallmarked "Spratling Silver, Made in Mexico". Tested to be 98% purity. In excellent vintage condition.

Symbols of fertility, rebirth, transformation and even immortality snakes and serpents have been favorite jewelry motifs through the centuries and across civilizations. In this Mexican Deco demi signed by the Los Castillo they are formed by silver, copper and brass, their slick bodies coiled around shimmering golden sheen obsidian. This is one of the best examples of the technique I have seen by the Los Castillo - probably because I love snake jewelry...

This rare and beautiful bracelet by the famous Matilde Poulat features two silver repousse Doves at the center set with Turquoise, Coral and Amethyst stones with side links set with small Turquoise. Measures 7" long by 2" wide at the front and weighs 78.1 grams. Early hallmark of MATL in script with Hecho en Mexico, 0.925. It has not been polished and shows age related tarnish. This unique and rare set by the famous Margot de Taxco consists of three matching pieces. All are 1 7/8" wide with one piece measuring 21" long, one measures 10" long and the other measures 2 3/4" long. All pieces have hook closures and can be attached together. Chunky heavy early modernist ring with a large faceted genuine amethyst stone. With two tiny marks on the outside of the shank. One is 800 or 900 (I can't be sure which), for silver content, and the other is a tiny hallmark or maker's mark in a cartouche. Circa 1940. Most likely European, based on the silver content and the other mark. Very well worked, with deep parallel ridges, in a great Deco/modernist design. Heavy for its size at 20 grams. Ring size 6. A rare early, large figural sterling silver pendant by Sam Kramer. Looks like an abstract man, maybe even a pirate. Measures 3 3/4" long and 2 3/4" wide. Signed with an impressed mushroom on the front of his leg. Heavy and substantial. Fine example of his work.

Circa 1940-1945, here is a superb hand-wrought necklace produced by Ana María Nünez de Brilanti, whose work is known as "Victoria". Brilanti opened her shop in Taxco in 1940, and named her shop Plateria Victoria, after her daughter. Brilanti is well known for her original designs and excellent craftsmanship, and this necklace is one of her earliest works. It's a book-piece design, shown on page 103 in "William Spratling and the Mexican Silver Renaissance", and referred to as "Curling Feathers"...

Hallmarks date this William Spratling brick link bracelet to 1940-1944. This design is shown on the Spratling Silver website. It's a hand-wrought bracelet which feels like silk on the wrist. Certainly a timeless design, and one which is understated in both beauty and elegance. Three rows of brick like links with a foldover clasp give this a completely seamless appearance. The silver has a rich warm glow.
