This stunning pendant, in the late 1960s-70s Brutalist tradition, is composed of silver and set with an impressive sugar-loaf cabochon. The silver is darkened and features a highly oxidized center within a lattice-like design of roughly molded openwork. The back evokes molten lava with its wavy texture. The stone is likely a highly-included quartz, polished and showing hardly any wear, surprising given its 1/2-inch height...
A wonderfully heavy vintage silver bracelet by Hermès. The bracelet has a triangular profile that stands well out from the surface of the wrist and a masterfully constructed so that it is flexible, but appears rigid when being worn. The inside edges of each link are parcel gilt, so the bracelet sometimes shows the slightest gold hue. This is probably the heaviest Hermès bracelet we have seen. The bracelet is presented in its original vintage fitted Hermès gray box...
This bracelet has a beautiful deisign. The decorative face measures 2" x 1 1/2. The band portion has a hinged closure and is thin with a scalloped design.
Signed by Hector Aguilar this "Mask" parure is known to be designed by Valentin Vidauretta. When you look at two links side by side they form a mask. The link is 6/8th's inch tall with the parure weighing 91 grams. The silver is thick and speaks volumes with it's sleek presence. The bracelet is 7in. long, necklace is 16.25 in. long and the earrings are 1.25in. long. No damage or flaws and this is collector, museum quality. Exceptionally scarce, just LOOK AT THAT NECKLACE!
Spratling designed this pin in 1942 as part of a series of items depicting continental solidarity. The pin shows clasped hands superimposed over a gold gilded map of the western hemisphere. This pin was made in two sizes, this being the larger at 1 1/2" x 1 1/4". The fastener is a two pronged clip. Both pin and original fastener are in excellent condition. In 1942 Macy's Dept. Store did an entire window dedicated to this design...
This classic Antonio Pineda bracelet has the bold sculpted style he is known for with thick and heavy horseshoe shaped links crafted in his favorite 970 silver. This beautiful, sterling silver bracelet measures 7 1/2" long. Each link features a dark, multifaceted stone with iridescent colors. The stones are bezel set. The V-spring box clasp is marked on each piece: the V-spring has the Mexican Assay mark with a 2 inside the spread eagle. The box part is marked with words in a circle; but all I can make out is PLATA 925.
A very delicate and colorful bracelet, featuring gilded silver filigreed panels enhanced with blue and green enamel. The enamel is in lovely condition, with only tiny areas of loss. The tongue-and-groove clasp is very secure and shows some wear due to use (the clasp is silverplated). There is also a gold-filled safety chain not original to the bracelet...
A variation of Antonio's amethyst cluster necklaces that doesn't come up often, this modernist dream is wrought in Pineda's signature fine, .970 alloy and adorned with richly colored stones. The renowned Taxco designer plays with a-symmetry here as the necklace's focal point, the stylized amethyst floral cascade, reaches out from the back of the neck and unfolds itself on its right side instead of occupying the center front...

We have a properly signed Antonio Pineda crescent necklace styled with black onyx and having a height of one inch. The weight is 111 grams of quality construction. A natural dark patina is on this treasure and it gives a smoky rich look but many wish Pineda's to be shiny so I will leave that up to the buyer. It sits up on an angle and lays perfectly on the neck with a 17 inch wearable length. I listed a matching bracelet on my site as well if you dream of a set...

An elaborate sterling silver knot hanging off a classic repousse semi-sphere takes center-stage in this set of vintage Mexican dangle earrings by renowned Taxco maestro Pedro Castillo. I love Pedro Castillo's work for its complexity and layering and the modernist twist it adds to motifs derived from Mexico's rich cultural past. And even though these beauties are of medium length, they do pack a strong visual punch with their strategically applied oxidation and the warm patina they have developed...

These mid-century earrings are composed of rectangular and concave gilded sterling silver plaques enameled in a deep blue with a linear design under the glaze. They are secured by screw backs in good working order, and are signed Balle 925 for Øystein Balle of Norway. They measure 1 inch long by 3/4 inch wide. Weight: 10.1 grams

A delightfully feisty-looking cat is featured in the French Art Nouveau brooch. We’re particularly fond of his enormously long whiskers that stretch the full width of the pin. The pin is stamped with French silver marks and with an illegible maker’s mark.
NOTE: The pin could be worn as a pendant with the addition of a bail to the back.
- Origin: France, ca. 1905.
- Condition: excellent; all original.
- Dimensions: 1” diameter.
- Weight: 5.4 grams.
Stern and solemn, a gorgeous example of classic Mexican Deco lapidary work, the chrysoprase “mask” centering the silver pendant at hand looks dignified and at ease, completely unaffected by the weight of its ornate headdress. The hefty, entirely hand-wrought chain that accompanies it is, I believe, original to the necklace and perfectly reflects the pendant’s heaviness. Signed by one of Taxco’s “less celebrated” maestros, those listed in the relevant literature yet still unidentified...

This ring has a beautiful design and is a size 9. It is large, measuring 1 1/4" (from top to bottom). The band measures 1/4", wrapping around to display its swirly, modernist design. It reminds me of a miniature, wraparound bracelet, as the top and bottom "swirls" are not fused together. It is marked MEXICO and 925. It has good heft and is in excellent condition.
This lovely sterling silver pin is a classic example of the Japanisme influence popular during the Aesthetic Movement of the late 19th century. It features embossed images of a dragonfly and two delicate plants as well as tiny marks emulating Asian characters, all on an irregular-shaped disk. Made by George W. Shiebler of New York City, the molding is sharp and detailed; it does appear to have a secure rollover clasp that would have replaced the original C-clasp. Besides the Shiebler mark, the r...

This item is in very good original condition with no scrapes, dents, monograms, bends, corrosion, damage or repairs other than the loss some enamel in three segments. All items are thoroughly ...
There are not many cases in which "massive" is an understatement in the description of a piece of jewelry and even though Mexican silver is in general bold and beautiful, bracelets like the one presented here are worthy of special mention! Green dyed calcite was often used by the early maestros in Mexico's 20th c. Silver Renaissance yet here the carved central "mask" is of monumental proportions. Teased out of a big chunk of stone that has been carved in the back to conform to the shape of th...
Cast as a lion's head and upper body, this ring is especially compelling for its intricate detail. The lion's mane continues from the head down to the ring's shoulder, and the tail rises from the band on the opposite side. It shows hardly any wear; the patina on the lower band suggests there is some age to the ring. The ring is unmarked and is sized to 6 ½; the lion's head measures about ¾ inch wide and ½ inch high. Weight: 9.5 grams
Dating in the earlier period of Matilde Poulat’s extraordinary career, the cross pendant presented here is adorned with Matl’s favorite stones - turquoise, amethyst and coral. Inspired by Mexico’s rich folk art, it belongs in her daringly eye-catching series of “jeweled” creations but here, there is an additional motif that makes the pendant even more precious. Namely, the two small repousse angel dangles, facing each other in a kneeling position with lit candles in their hands. The st...

Two different sizes of sterling silver barrel beads adorned with a myriad of hand-made florets in the Etruscan style make up this generously long Mexican lariat necklace from the pre-1948 period. I am very partial to long necklaces and lariats are a small obsession of mine. When I am lucky enough to come upon an Etruscan example as the one presented here, my heart skips a beat. Just like the one I offered last summer, this lariat was also made in Cuernavaca, one of Mexico's main silver-smithing ...
