Slender, elongated, hand-wrought fine silver feathers that end in a playful curl make up this set of "swan wing" modernist earrings by Antonio Pineda. I have to admit that this is one of the most unexpected Antonio creations I have ever encountered. When I first saw it, I thought that the clip-ons would have to surely be a later replacement yet I have since seen a similar pair and that one too had the same findings. Now these are earrings for those not afraid to .....

Circa 1948-1953, this early Antonio Pineda necklace is a supremely rare piece. I have never seen another quite like it. Hallmarked Silver by Tono, this is collector quality, and in superb original condition, including the stringing - which is a ribbed silver wire with silver crimping at the ends where it joins a hook and eye closure on each side. The center links measure 2" tall. Sixteen repousse middle panels which oppose each other in the center, graduating in size...

A twist to Margot de Taxco's classic all silver zodiac pendant / charms this sinewy Sagittarius rises above a background of multicolored confetti enamel. A true feast for the eyes, the archer faces the viewer but has his head turned to the right in the direction of his outstretched bow-holding arm. I love these enameled examples by Margot because the confetti, especially the primarily blue / green version like here, reminds me of clear nights when thousands of twinkling stars light up the skies...

Circa 1930's-1940's, this necklace from Fred Davis is nothing short of spectacular. A very rare piece, with repoussé sterling silver curved domed dangles. This lays perfectly on the neck, and it has a huge presence. A piece which will not fail to be noticed. Measures a closed, wearable length of 15". Length of each dangle is 1 7/8". It's a stunning piece which won't fail to be noticed and looks magnificent on the neck.

It's composed of two separate pieces, one measures 1 3/4" and the other at 14", combining to 15 3/4". It's wide at just over 1 1/4"...

Los Castillo is known for their superb silver repousse work and this stunning bracelet is an outstanding example of that skill. Two large vary ornate fish sitting on two blue Art Glass cabochons curve around the wrist ending with silver shells at the clasp in the back. It measures 6 1/2" long by 2" wide at the front tapering to 1" at the back and is quite heavy at 97.9 grams...

One of the best Sigi Pineda's for a collection is this outstanding bracelet of silver brushed "pearls" and a concave black niello background that goes half the way around. Sigi's silver brushed pearl look was achieved by making a cutting of a tight spiral onto the bead balls. It is evident in the close up photography. From a look to your arm when worn it gives a satin finish effect. The quality of the thickness of the silver and bead work shows off the heft of 80 grams...

Circa mid-century, this belt buckle is collector quality. It's a huge and heavy piece produced by Antonio Pineda, using his "Lascaux" design. Referred to as Lascaux because it is thought that he was inspired from the ancient cave drawings of Lascaux, France. Pineda had a series of pieces with this design, including pendant necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and pin. I've not had this particular buckle before, but it is spectacular. Executed in almost pure 97% silver...

Hubert Harmons' whimsical designs never fail to bring a smile and provoke thought. His c. 1940's mask pendant or belt buckle is 5 1/2" across X 2 1/4 high. The raised onyx eyes and silver are in beautiful condition. The mask & detachable sterling chain weighs 100 grams. 2 loops on the front ends of the face were perhaps meant for attaching feathers or some other adornment. A senor doll motif. Vintage circa 1945 sterling silver pin brooch as a pre assay era figural man with sombrero carrying a crate of 'tomatoes' stamped: SILV MEX - testing at least 90%, tho often these are higher. No doubt by a talented Taxco Mexico Mexican silversmith working in repousse holloware.
The native peoples have been known to make dolls as teaching tools for their children to play.

A long necklace with silver and copper links and a central warrior shaped pendant in mixed metals attributed to Los Castillo.

The chain measures 24" long and has a hook clasp. The central pendant is made from married silver, copper, and brass metals and has an inlay of some kind of green stone. It measures 4" long and 1 3/4" at the widest.

Marked Hecho en Mexico on the reverse which is brass. Has some surface scratches and shows a little wear. We did not polish it.

Corpus Artisans Doris Silver was a store where extremely talented maestros worked in the back of her taller. If she liked the pieces that were made she would buy them.
