A vintage Japanese contemporary low Mizuya Tansu made from solid Keyaki (Zelkova) wood. Two sliding doors open to a spacious storage area. Three side by side drawers along the bottom with Hikute iron handles. Taiko drum nail heads decorate the sliding doors and horizontal side bars add structural strength as well as aesthetic beauty to the chest.

A vintage Chinese coffer altar cabinet in the Ming style made entirely of Huanghuali wood including the back and the interior shelves. All original brass square plate and loop handles with a pair of double hinged doors and 3 side by side drawers above. With classic spandrels and apron for the feet. Tall Chinese hardwood cabinet in two sections, elaborately carved all over with scenes of eight dragons in light color wood on dark hardwood ground carved with swirling clouds, rocks and waves. The sides of the cabinet are also made of dark hardwood and carved with scrolling key fret motif. Brass hardware is incised with matching key fret and chimera designs. c. 1950. Made by Rachid Ismael Assan through his company Fabrica de Moveis Brasil, a large school that started a modern furniture movement in Brazil and lasted for 54 years until 1981. Pair of monumental sized Chinese coromandel type screens. Four panels each, for eight panels. Incised and polychrome lacquered decoration of immortals in heavenly palace-garden landscape. Good and serviceable condition. Vintage, probably about mid 20th century or earlier. Height, 8 feet high (about 244 cm). Width, each panel 16 inches wide (about 40.64 cm each panel).

Not much is known about the Bethlehem Furniture Manufacturing Corp. of Red Lion Pennsylvania that crafted this set, but they were apparently a small niche manufacturer active from the late 19th century up until the mid 20th century...
