Nepalese Joker Mask from the Terai Region with traces of kaolin pigment. 10.25 inches, 26 cm.
This mask or may be an effigie as the back is flat likely represnts a raktsatsa ( which means devil or bad spirit). Indeed this might not be a mask weared by people but rather an effigie posted on an entrance either a door or a window as the back is flat. This piece is very old with a local repair, carved in semi hard wood, at least around 100 y , large size H 38 cm , wide 25 cm. From East central central, district of Rameschap,likely from Tamang of Brahman people.
Robust ghurra surprising by its gigantic dimensions, while little use index can be observed despite an estimate good age ( 40 to 50 years). The ghurras may well ask riddles unanswered for now. Important geometric and symmetrical prints with beautiful black patina areas due to aging wood and also likely handling...

This Tibetan pipe was made and used for smoking hand rolled tobacco cigarettes only. The body of the pipe is antelope horn and according to the Tibetans, they stopped killing the antelope many years ago. Pipe is 8 inches long.

old mushroom mask, with a shiny black patina. These mask are made from tree parasit mushroom with a minimal carving work. The aime of the carvers is to take advantage of the native form of the mushroom. These masks are usually hung inside homes to function as protective effigies. They are more occasionally used as face masks during festival season, H 29 cm, width 38 cm weight1Kg.
A fine and complete set of Tibetan saddle Rugs. The set is composed of a woollen saddle blanket in butterfly shape and a matching saddle seat cover. The central medallion decorated with pair of Snow Lions playing with pearls, beige on red ground; borders with stylised dragons, red and blue on beige borders. Snow Lion is the national emblem of Tibet. Large piece: L. 143 cm x 66 cm; 56 x 26 inches.
