A pair of Japanese Imari porcelain dishes. A later example with Namban (or Nanban - Southern barbarian) subject "Black Ship" dishes. The decoration in the Imari palette depicting Portuguese figures and their famed trading ship, that between Japan and China. Good condition. Showa period, probably mid 20th century. A hexagonal faceted gourd shaped vase decorated in a style not often found in traditional Kutani ware, but more so in traditional Japanese kinrande style porcelains. This very well molded Japanese Kutani style sleeping cat is a mid 20th century product. This sleepy cat has a white coat with gold streaks and wears an orange bow on its neck. It is 10 ½” long, 6 ¼” wide and 4” high. It is in great condition.

Japanese Porcelain Umbrella Jar or Stand, 24" high, 9 1/2" diameter, beautifully decorated over glaze enamel of flowering branches and Phoenix Bird in the colorful floral background. The condition is good no damages. The dark line inside the stand is glaze ran down from the top rim, not crack.

This hand painted Japanese ceramic bowl is an early or mid-20th century product. It is 7 1/8” in diameter and 3” high. It depicts white cherry blossoms and red maple leaves on a milk white crackled background inside and outside. There is a small finger pinch close to the rim. The stamped maker’s mark “Takamine” is near the bottom. It is in great condition.

Japanese studio porcelain Quail family. Three pieces include male, female and young. The male and female heavy (1.8 lbs and 1.29 lbs [814 g and 586 g] respectively) and of stout potting though with well defined details and clear glaze with very faint bluish celadon trace where the glaze pools - mostly between feathers around the birds' necks. These two are clearly of earlier, accomplished production though not marked...

Rich impact art deco plate from the pottery master Kanou Mitsuo. He was born and lived in Kyoto c.1903-1970. He was known for his tortoiseshell glazes. In 1949 he won first prize at the Nitten, Japan's prestigious Fine Arts Exhibition. Later he was asked to be the top judge in the event. The plate comes in the original signed kiri wood box and on the lid it reads, 'Bekkou Yu' tortoiseshell glaze, and 'Hirabachi' flat plate...

This set of 5 porcelain serving bowls is packed in their original paper box. They are a mid-20th century product. The bowls are 2 ¼” high and 4 ½” in diameter. They have blue, green and orange floral and pattern designs inside and outside. There is a maker’s mark “Oyoshi kiln” on the bottoms. They were never used and are in excellent condition.

Very well crafted dish enameled with a Japanese cherry blossom tree, with two brass handles, with marks to the base, late 19th century period. Approx. 11 1/2 by 7 5/8 in., 29.3 by 19.5 cm. No imperfections observed.

Rather unusual 1930s Japanese porcelain covered inkstone with underglaze decoration. The side of the base is inscribed with a very long text, the top of the cover has a short poem and a figure of a man in robe lighting his pipe from ambers in the brazier. Possibly Arita ware, very nice modeling of the central raised area with rougher side surface for grinding ink, remnants if dried ink in the well...

This Nippon biscuit jar / cookie jar is circa 1890-1921. The green mark #91 is under glaze.

There are no chips, no cracks, no hairlines and no repairs to this item. This is in excellent condition except for the overall crazing.

A Japanese Kutani Moriage decorated figure of Hotei, one of the "Seven Gods of Good Luck" and also known as the "Happy God". He always carries the cloth bag that never empties, a walking stick to support the heavy bag, and the Chinese wish giving fan. He is also the patron saint of barkeepers. This Hotei is very large measuring about 17" tall x 10" wide, he weighs about 12 pounds, and he has the Kutani nine valleys mark on the base. We are dating this Hotei as Circa 1950...

DESCRIPTION: This vintage eight-sided Japanese platter is raised on a square foot with blue underglazed geometric designs covering the flat interior and with chrysanthemums scattered over diagonal cross hatching around the raised edges. Perfect condition with no chips, cracks or repairs, and dating to the first half of the 1900’s; maker’s mark and collector’s stickers are on the back. DIMENSIONS: 10 ¾” square (27.4 cm) x 1 5/8” high (4.1 cm).
