Oversized Japanese limited edition “kappa-ban” (stencil print) by Sadao Watanabe (1913-1996) titled "Noah's Ark.” The predominantly black and white composition is divided into five horizontal rows featuring pairs of animals and four figures disembarking from Noah's Ark onto dry land. Noah and his wife are at the top. The scene is set against a bold red background and is executed on the crumpled hand-made momigami paper characteristic of the artist's work...

Oversized limited edition Japanese serigraph (silkscreen) print layered with special heavy textured inks to create a dimensional effect by Yukio Katsuda (b. 1941), pencil titled "No. 94," signed Y. Japanese sosaku hanga woodblock print depicting a pavilion in the woods near a pond by Inui Tai (b. 1929). The artist was active from the end of the 1940s through the 1980s and was heavily influenced by the work of Shiko Munakata. Paper size: 12 1/2" x 12 1/2" (image: 9 3/8" x 11 3/8"). Very good overall condition with some wrinkling to the fine paper and minor soiling to the bottom margin edge. Similar prints by this artist can be seen in the online collection of the Spencer Museum...

Japanese framed abstract woodblock print by sosaku-hanga artist Tajima Hirohuki 田嶋 宏行 (1911-1984), titled "Ancient Writing B", number 23/100 of the series, and signed in pencil.

A printmaker of the sōsaku-hanga school. He was born in Tokyo and graduated from Nihon University in 1932. In 1943, he graduated from the Western-style painting division of the Tokyo School of Fine Arts. He created his first print in 1946, and joined the Bijutsu Bunka Kyok...
