Rectilinear neck with flat top. Round and domed cover with same ribbing and finial chained on both sides to ribbed rings loose-mounted to applied Classical satyr’s heads. Engraved Renaissance figures on front and armorial on back; leafing scrollwork and birds. Marked. Very good condition with deep patina.

Midcentury Modern sterling silver water pitcher. Designed by Alphonse La Paglia (d. 1953) for International Silver Co. in Meriden, Conn. Baluster with helmet mouth. Capped high-looping handle with volute-scroll terminal mounted with Blossom-style seeding pod. Open foot ring inset with stylized flower and bead border. Sterling silver neck collar with imbricated leaf borders. Hinged bun cover same; top has chased garland, ribbon, crisscrossing horns of plenty, and laurel wreath surmounted by crown engraved with interlaced script monogram. Globular bowl with foot ring, drum-form neck, lip spout, and c-scroll handle with engraved leaf-cap and bold scroll and leaf terminal. Repousse rinceaux band. Fully marked including maker’s stamp, pattern no. 6462 (first produced in 1881), and director’s letter M (1873-91). Very good condition.

A beautiful Edwardian Classical centerpiece. Fully marked. Excellent condition with nice shimmer.
